Do we give Sheldrick another run at sub or get him a full game in the VFL? I can see the benefits of both, he had more of an impact as sub but was that just due to match situation? It would be good for him to have a full game soon though. No other changes for mine.
Haven't seen the stats but it looked like Sheldrick played alot of minutes in the VFL yesterday. He didn't make much of an impact.

Sub. Still had a couple of questionable disposals, just not convinced about him yet.

Not bothered whichever way it goes aslong as it's not starting 22.

I'd actually be inclined to have Mitchell as sub this week as he was better than Gus in yesterdays bad VFL loss. Sadly, Gus has gone backwards since his initial burst of games in 2023.

Gus only played 2.5 quarters in the VFL. He didn’t stand out, but neither did anyone (other than Logan in Q1). We were completely outclassed

Not sure Gus could have done a lot more against the Roos. Didn’t hit a target on a couple of kicks inside 50, but had more disposals in one quarter than Cleary & Corey had in the whole game.

I think the 23 will remain the same - Gus has become the Braeden Campbell style perma-sub of 2025.

I wouldn't mind seeing Sheldrick get a full game TBH. We have had Hanily, Bice, Sheldrick, Bye, Sheldrick.
To be honest I wouldn't mind seeing Ollie as sub, but I'm going to say it's Hanily or Corey Warner.

Sheldrick only played 48% game time against the Hawks, then out, then 14% against Freo, Bye, then 24% on the weekend.
He needs time on the ground and with no VFL he's not getting it there.

Coaches' votes

North Melbourne v Sydney

9 Will Hayward (SYD)
7 Riley Bice (SYD)
6 Brodie Grundy (SYD)
3 Joel Amartey (SYD)
2 Tom McCartin (SYD)
2 James Rowbottom (SYD)
1 Harry Sheezel (NMFC)
To be honest I didn't think Grundy was THAT good. He had a decent game, but surprised he got 6 votes.

He butchers the ball too much. Simple as that. We are a solid kicking team. He needs to spend his time improving his kicking. We don’t have the luxury of developing that in game.

You are a tough marker….he was really good in the only one on one position in the game and was up against arguably the form ruck. He set the tone in a lot of ways I thought.

It’s a shame because he gives his all but lacks the quality. Sub next week.
Why do you think Norf found it so hard to move the ball out of their defence? It was because Warner, Hanily, Cleary and others were working their backsides off and being very disciplined to block easy exits. What players in that role do with the ball is far less important than what they do without it.

I’m not anti-Sheldrick but he has neither the pace nor the endurance to contribute in that role in the way Warner can.

(I’m also not much of a fan of Mitchell. He’s a bigger body but has no runs on the board in an inside role. His disposal is as unreliable as Sheldrick’s and worse than Warner’s. He’ll pull out the odd amazing kick at times but it always has the feel (to me) of being a bit flukish, and much of the time I don’t think he’s trying to hit a particular target. With Warner I generally can see what he’s trying to do even when it doesn’t come off.)

Oh for sure he set the tone.
If I were giving the votes it would have been Bice, Hayward, Rowbottom. Then McCartin and Grundy. As I mentioned, he was good, not 3rd best IMO. But I understand it doesn't take much to push players up or down on someone's voting card.

Sheldrick would probably have to push Rowbottom, Heeney, Jordon or even Campbell out currently to start .

Can't see him being fwd mid like say Cleary Warner or Hanily .

I don't think he can take the place of Lloyd on a wing etc
