Autopsy 65! point win against North

Sheldrick would probably have to push Rowbottom, Heeney, Jordon or even Campbell out currently to start .

Can't see him being fwd mid like say Cleary Warner or Hanily .

I don't think he can take the place of Lloyd on a wing etc
Shouldn't be in the team until he can demonstrate he can hit a target

My impression is that he doesn't fit our DNA. For a while now we have a skill and structure first focus, not a single player in our best 22 who I can unequivocally say is poor in that area minus the odd brain fart. Sheldrick just seems consistently unpolished and can see him ending up in a team like Carlton. I don't think lack of experience is an excuse either, plenty of first gamers have demonstrated disposal ability from the get go, and he's spent more than enough time in the system to show that promise.

Looked to be the player we needed but it's becoming clear that he is not the full package. And there are no other strings to his bow where he can be afforded time and experience playing a different role. He needs to explode magnificently real quick to favour his fortunes.

Agree with everything you’ve said - except the Hanily fwd/mid part.

We need to field 22 players though, if target hitting is an issue we could struggle at times 😂

Wherever you want to say he plays then.

Was just thinking of fringe players like Warner , Hanily, Cleary and then similar size players.

I also can't see Sheldrick in defence, think he is your contested mid in and under packs?

Who knows .

I'd like to see a full game from him but suspect that means someone good is hurt

Oh for sure he set the tone.
If I were giving the votes it would have been Bice, Hayward, Rowbottom. Then McCartin and Grundy. As I mentioned, he was good, not 3rd best IMO. But I understand it doesn't take much to push players up or down on someone's voting card.
As a mod I feel obliged to remind you (& everyone else) that there is a POTY thread where you actually can give your votes :)

It's funny. I watched him closely in warm ups on the weekend and I came away thinking (knowing) that at my age, fitness level and having not kicked a ball in a while, I would still have a better leg than him. Was completely underwhelmed that someone on an AFL list that isn't a ruckman or young KP player would have such horrible skills.
I thought maybe he was just having a bad warm up.

Crazy thing is that when he had his first go at AFL footy in 2023, he was actually a decent kick. I remember him hitting them with ease in the game v Lions, arguably his best so far. Not sure why he's gone backwards?

I think at the end of the day this is where its at. Still want him to get a good crack at it this season to show he can thrive in a role or not, but he needs to go and take a spot off someone else TBH. IMO guys like Cleary, Hanily, Bice, Roberts have all either taken someone's spot and/or made the most of their opportunity.

TBF he was better in the game. And he may just have been having a bad warm up. It happens. I really want to give him a go, but it's up to him, if he is decent enough he will force his way in. Just hoping he gets a decent run at it with injuries and can build confidence though the season.

One thing I'm pretty confident of is that he will get a fair go from Cox, not be jettisoned as sometimes happened with 🐴.
