He's either very good or very bad in the same game, a bit like our team. He needs to lift his poor quarters into average quarters. He's still young, hopefully this off-season he can improve on his kicking or utilise a different option.
Yeah, easy to forget he and Gulden are still probably a couple of years away from their prime and not the finished products yet.

Well that game pretty much summed up our season.

Periods when we were very good and periods when we were bloody awful. Far too many players who drifted in and out of the game (and the season) showing far too much inconsistency.

Also too many displays of poor skills and even poorer decision making but then someone would do something great and we’d feel better for a while.

I said here before the season started that I feared that the Grand Final could have a huge negative impact on the squad and I seriously doubted if they would make the finals. Sadly I was right.

Frankly, I’m relieved we can draw a line under this year and hopefully, with the right player trades and recruitment in the off-season, we can look forward to a much more rewarding 2026.

WCE to challenge Baker's 1 match ban for his cheap shot on Chad;

The incident was deemed careless contact, medium impact and high contact. With no option for an early plea, the 27-year-old was offered a one-match suspension.

At no stage does Baker actually contest the ball or indeed look at doing anything other than bumping Warner.

Absolutely shit act IMO and if Baker does get off it is yet another indictment on the MRO/appeals system and their focus on outcomes (eg concussion).
I actually thought Baker was lucky to be only given the one week as that action does have the potential to cause significant harm.
It's my understanding that the medium contact grading is based on the potential to cause injury.

And I figure I'd get in before the mods and just observe it is totally unrelated to the Rankine punishment and should be judged solely as a 'football' act and the punishments handed down for those incidents.

And some journo rat has said Chad could be done for staging

My guess is that they’ll be going the “Alex Davies defence”. GC were able to successfully reduce his sanction from a week to a fine by arguing impact was lower (rather than medium) since the player collected wasn’t significantly affected.

Very unusually, I had some sympathy for a Chris Scott whinge after he pointed out that the minimum classification for these incidents has been medium all season, and had the Cats realised the rules were elastic, they would have challenged the one match ban that one of their players received for clipping one of our players in that very same round. The contact was so incidental and fleeting I can’t actually recall who the players were. Maybe Jake Lloyd?

Can’t see it working for Mr Baker. The Eagles would be better off donating the challenge fee to a local charity.

Also while acknowledging that WC just completely stopped, how beautiful were those centre clearances in the last 6 or 7 minutes?

Grundy getting first use, Heeney doing the tough stuff, Chad bursting through and hitting targets... Brilliant to watch.
Was at the game and though tempted to make a run for it in the first half, was thankful to stick around for the fireworks - it was truly exhilarating and felt a bit like a celebration.

BTW the Eagles were pretty damn good in that first half; there is some stuff to work with especially given who they were missing. And Eagles fans seem to have lost that chip off their shoulder; they were largely a very pleasant and friendly bunch.
