I wasn't going to read this thread, but I thought, nah, how shit can it be?

Pretty ****ing shit, as it turned out.
Surely Simpsons disposal upsets you at times NorthBhoy. Why has nothing ever been done to rectify it? He still has the same sloppy kicking action he had 10 years ago.

Fish, a few of them today shat me off. One in particular. I thought he was bad today.

Kicking is one part of what a footballer brings to the table. As important as it is (and he isn't the terrible kick he is made out to be), his hardness, his smarts around contests, his marking, positioning and defensive brain make him an outstanding footballer. He has played a shitload of games, played in two flags, won a B+F and is a champion of the footy club. And that is without mentioning his off-field qualities and leadership.

So yeah, I shake my head at some kicks and I was very pissed off with his pass on the wing today, but I look past it at the next contests and he tackles a bloke, wins the footy and then in the same motion as a handball, blocks space for Wells and then lays a shepard.

Bullshit thread. Ever since Simmo made Geelong look like witches hats at Baked Potato Park last year, they've tagged the crap out of him. Add that to the fact that he's 2 games back from injury, and his more senior team mates had succumbed to indecision-itis.

He at least made a contest out of it everytime the ball was within cooee. Not many north players get to claim that today.
He definitely did work hard unlike most of our midfield.

But yes he was very poor today. But I'm sure that he will turn it around quickly.

Delete whichever two you want.

TOD how many 30+ possesion games has he had this year compared to last year?
The names in bold would be the only possible players that could have polled more votes then Simmo in the B&F this season.

Simmo is easily in our top 4 players of the season. You can bag him all you want but I've been keeping an eye on him & this season would be up there with his 2002 season to which he won the B&F.

It's sad that Simmo will probably be remembered more for his helicopter kicks than his awesome courage and ball-winning abilty.
He has been the the opitome of the Denis Pagan midfielder.
Fearless, rugged and relentless. He is ball magnet with massive motor and massive heart. He also can't hit the side of a barn from point bank range.
I have seen his kicking lead to more narrow defeats than anyone else I can remember. I reckon Pagan coached him better as he rarely kicked the ball under 50m in those days. He should be instructed to handball at all costs or kick it long.
His kicking is past infuriating. It's seriously ,fcking embarrassing. I cringe everytime he has the ball in his hands.
But, despite all that, I love Simmo and believe he should keep playing as long the body holds up. If we find ourselves in a GF this year or next, you won't reget having Captain Courageous out there.

could not agree more. Something must be done to fix his kicking, his disposal is not up to scratch. And, im sure if he worked on it in the next week or so, he could improve it a hell of alot.

As someone metioned before, under Pagan all he had to do was kick it long and high to Carey who would use his strength and skill to mark the ball. Now, we have no carey, and their is more emphasis on speed and skills in todays game. Being able to kick well is so important in todays football. If you look at Hawthorn and Geelong, all their midfielders are wonderful kicks. It's not the turnovers that angers me, it's his high loopy kicks they take an age to reach their target, particularly when we are on some fast breaks, or have some good leads on. He cost us serval good chances for a score on Sunday. Looked in the paper today, his disposal effectiveness was 50%. Laidely must address the issue before finals.

I listed the 10 best kicks in team below, hopefully one of these guys can teach him how it's done!

1.Pratt
2.Harvey
3.Firrito
4.Wells
5.Sinclair
6.Grant
7.Gibson
8.Watt
9.Urquhart
10.Petrie/Rawlings

Re: 7. Adam Simpson

Round 21,

Geelong Vs North Melbourne,

Adam Simpson's Stats:

Kicks:11
Handballs: 16
Marks: 2
Inside 50's: 3
Clangers: 7
Tackles: 1
Clearances: 4
Contested Poss: 10
Uncontested Poss: 20
Efficiency: 52%
Time on ground: 81%

These were just some of the stats i could find.

Crap game, we lost. That about describes this game in one.

Poor game by Simmo's standards, sure got alot of the ball but made way to many critical turnovers. The second quarter would have been his worst quarter of the season. In that quarter he cost us 3 goals from direct turnovers.

The only positives would be that he never gave up, worked hard for the whole game unlike some who couldn't be bothered. I'm sure this game was a one off & he will be back to himself against the Power.

I don't care what sort of leader he is off the field, how about leading the team ON the field.
Today was a pitiful display by our captain on top of an equally poor game last week.
His sloppy disposal cost us again today, as it has many, many times over the last few years. To have such poor disposal & to be SLOW on top of that, if he wasn't captain, he'd be a fringe player at best.
To see him parked out on the wing on his own today & not sprint once all day had my blood boiling. Just jogging along pointing to others all day.

It would've been nice to see him turn it on in the 2nd half & steady the ship & play a `captains game' as captains should. But the game has passed him by - the game is much quicker than 5 years ago & he has been left behind.

Adam Simpson = Captain Calamity!

Time to hand the captaincy over to Petrie.

I ****ing hate threads like this. They just add to the overall frustration of an overall ****ing shit day.

Simmo was shocking today, yes. And he's played a few bad games in a row... i'll concede that.

But ffs... leave it at that.
