When James Brayshaw is on the radio bagging the Captains kicking in the second quarter of a must win game, you just know that things are going to go from bad to worse. Couldn't be there today as I had a wedding to go to and all I can say is it probably saved my life because I am sure I would have had the blood pressure in overdrive.
Can't even bring myself to watch it because although he may be a great leader of men he is not up to modern day football....................and I too have been saying it for years and been shot down on more than one occasion for it.
Your leader shouldn't be the guy putting the most pressure on your own team any idiot can work out the pressure is supposed to come from the opposition:thumbsdown:

Simmo is obviously is a great leader.
IMHO our team would be better served if it was Simmo's last season instead of Grants.

The midfield is just to important in today's game and as good a leader as Simmo may be he just doesn't warrant a position in the midfield.

We have Leaders that could be Captain in Boomer, Spud and Drew.

Simmo is a great servant but you have to be more than that in todays AFL.

Form been average this year. Wouldn't be sad if he retired this year but one more would be it if he goes on.
What sort of supporter of the club wouldn't be sad to see a captain and two time premiership winner and just short of 300 game player who has held the club together for years retire? I'll assume it was just a poor choice of words rather than your true sentiment. Simmo's retirement will be up their with Arch and Stevo for me - sad day for the club when it happens. Hopefully at least another year away.

Premature thread.

Sure, a couple of bad games. He's one guy that has to make amends next week and I'm confident he will.

However, I'm pretty sure Simpson's future as a captain (and maybe even as a player) will be a matter of conjecture at club level in the weeks after our last game.

We started ok in the the first quarter. The match started to turn from a few turnovers which Port got goals out of them and Simpson was involed in 1 or 2 of them. Then the match went from bad to worse.
Give the captaincy to someone else

By Christ you have an overactive imagination.

Simmos three turnovers in the second quarter last week were the prime reason Geelong got on top in that quarter.

The bloke has been poor since he returned from injury to the point where he has become a liability.

Simmo is a top bloke one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet.
i feel his frustration at times when being interviewed by the media, he is die hard roo boy like us fans, but only he see's everything first hand by playing.
right now IMO he looks done and dusted.
No Doubt He will have an important role with the kanga's off field once he retires from playing. time to hang up the boots after 08. Absolute legend.

And do you actually know where Arden St is? Have you ever spoken with anyone who is paid by the club, possibly a member of the footy dept? Because if you had, you would not question the regard Simmo is held in down there.

Let Simmo keep the role next year. But Swallow should be played more than him. Simmo should be played off the bench. Dish does not cope well with leadership IMO and Spud needs a year in the midfield to get it. Hopefully JWS comes thru.

Simpson promises physical final

By Matt Burgan 1:36 PM Mon 01 September, 2008

st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) }NORTH MELBOURNE captain Adam Simpson is confident the Roos can match the Sydney Swans physically in Saturday night's elimination final at ANZ Stadium. "It's going to be a physical game, the way Sydney play," Simpson said on Monday.
"And we like to think we can match them in that area. And that's the only way we can respond."
Simpson said players had quickly moved on from Saturday's 76-point loss to Port Adelaide at the MCG.
"Dean came down (to post-match recovery) and had a chat to the players … as a group, we decided to put it aside and last year we did come off a belting in that first final [against Geelong] and we responded really well, so we can take some things from that, for sure," Simpson said.
"We normally respond pretty well after losses like that and it was very disappointing, but all we can worry about is performing on the day.
"The stuff you do during the week is not really physical – it's more mental and we've got to make sure we're positive and we attack the game with everything we've got."
Coach Dean Laidley said this weekend's final provided a great chance for the club to rebound.
"We've got another opportunity and I'm sure there'd be eight other clubs that'd love to be in our position right now," Laidley said.
"We've worked extremely hard to get this opportunity and it was a pretty ordinary performance on the weekend. We move on very, very quickly, because we need to focus on getting up to Sydney this weekend and we haven't played up there.
"I've probably seen, as a spectator, three or four games over the last few years, played there, so we'll train up there on Friday and we'll go in with all guns blazing."
Laidley also had no concerns about the ANZ Stadium surface or the fact that the side hadn't played there before.
"We're going to train there on Friday and we know the dimensions of the ground and there is a few similar grounds in the AFL, so we'll make sure we get a good hit out there on Friday," Laidley said.
"There is nothing we can do about it, so having said that, we'd probably rather play there than the SCG."
Laidley also said he was bewildered by talk of any possible finals scenarios beyond this weekend.
"You know what staggers me in these press conferences is that you guys keep talking about who you might talk about who you might play in two or three or four weeks' time – we're playing Sydney this weekend," Laidley said.
"I tried to state the fact last week in my press conference about everybody playing Geelong – well, we've got to play Sydney this weekend.
"If we win this week, I reckon it's a great opportunity to move forward, but if we don't, well, then you know what, we're on holidays."

Anyone feel like theyve seen this sort of article way too much. If we dont respond this week and next week then well be the joke of the AFL if we arent already or havent been for the last several years.

I have a funny feeling we wil come out like we did against Geelong in the Qualifying last year where they thought being physical was going to worry the Cats.

Can someone please tell them to play their game and stop trying to change things so much?

If they had played there game on Saturday instead of ****ing around with selections and games styles, the result would have been different I'm guessing.

I've seen it before and I guess I'll see it again, we totally change whats been working for some stupid ****ing reason.
