By `getting physical', does Simmo mean he'll wave his arms around & point with extra vigour. I ma adament he should wear a cape & use it for advertising space. Still can't fathom how he plays AFL without sprinting.

constant preassure football is what wins games and without the constant turnovers, our skill level in that regard worries me the most. ive heard all players being blamed on here in there seperate threads at one time or another but if he is not accountable well **** the effort put in

but if we don't, well, then you know what, we're on holidays."
Hmmm, he makes that sound like a good thing.

Simple as this; the season is on the line, lose a game and that's it so just play the way you did for the 5 weeks leading up the Cats game where you were in the same situation. If we had lost any of those matches the season would be over now.

What else can the poor guy do on a monday other than talk.If we had won against port everyone of you would be loving him talking up beating the cats.So get your hand off it
Absolutely. And personally, if they weren't talking, I'd be demanding them to stop hiding and come out and give us some bloody explanation for the bowl of jelly they dished up on Saturday.

Well given we were playing a side that has won 6 games for the year, been crap for the most of it, was missing key players and was sitting 14th, I'd say that would've been completely dependant on how much we beat them by. If we'd have beaten them by 10pts in a MOR performance with an opportunity to secure a top 4 position and put the wind up a few other teams, I'd probably only be a bee's wing less annoyed than I am now. And I certainly wouldn't have been talking up any chances against Geelong, who had as much to play for as Melbourne, but still went out and slaughtered West Coast by 17 goals.

All this talk from North is bullshit, they should have fired up on Saturday, Mike Sheahan summed it up best, all the fantastic work of 6 weeks was undone in the space of 2 hours. We are a joke again, 2 weeks ago we are touted as contenders, now we are laughed at & seen as pretenders. Nothing short of a Grand Final appearance would redeem us from getting pumped by Port & losing the double chance! We were embarrassing.

He never does this. His decision making has been terrible in the past two games and it's a worry.

The Port game was like living in a bizarro world where we have become Melbourne FC. Our genius handed general was turned into a clanger king who might as well of just handed the ball over to his opponents and who is the person that has inhabited Harros body.

We were crucified in the middle. We really really need redemption this Saturday Night - no more talk, no more bullshit Laidley distractions about tunnelling, just shut up and do whatever it takes to win

Be nice if Simmo would promise actually touch the ball this game and handball to advantage rather than to someone who is surrounded by ten opposition players
His last 2 games have been as bad as I've seen from him. Surely he can turn it around. If he has a poor final, I will not be happy at all.
And really, I think it's time he got the tap on the shoulder & asked to relinquish the captaincy & hand it over to Petrie. At least Petrie can influence a game & may be able to turn a game for us.
When's the last time Simmo turned a game around for us (in a positive way)? That's what I want in a captain.

If anyone needed any further convincing re Simmo's role as captain, just watch a replay of last nights game. Kirk showed Simmo what being a captain is all about. He embarrassed Simmo in the 2nd half. I thought Simmos 1st half was very good in shutting Kirk down BUT Simmo's 2nd half was diabolical.

Kirk had 22 disposals & 8 tackles.
Simpson had 13 disposals & 4 tackles - what sort of game is that from a captain???

I would be interested to see Simmo's stats in finals as captain.........

If the NMFC & Laidley are serious about improving our performance in BIG games, Simmo must be asked to relinquish the captaincy so that he is no longer an `untouchable'. He really has become a fringe player IMO.

Ahhhh you have no idea. You don't understand how huge Simmo has been for this club.

'Has been' being the operative term here. We really can't keep leaning on him anymore...he isn't the player he once was. I'd prefer us to hand over the batton to the next 'generation' and give the captaincy to Drew or Spud (maybe even Pratty) to see what they make of it as they've already got the experience under their belts. It's not like we can keep waiting for someone to be a perfect fit. Why not let someone grow into the captaincy role? Meanwhile we also let Simmo enjoy what he has left of his playing career free of this burden. Who knows...it might actually do him some good.

He has been a fantastic servant, but I don't think he is suited for the modern game any longer.

It is all about possessions, run and carry, effective disposals. How many finals do we need to bomb out of with a defensive midfield that can't get the ball to our outside midfielders before it is time to make a change?

Our midfield has far too often this year struggled to perform. it is time to force a change. We can make the top 4 next year but if we have the same defensive midfield we will get obliterated by a fast high possession midfield in the finals.

I think he has got to have been playing injured. He was fine earlier in the year - as good as I've ever seen him play. But since he came back from that "hip injury" he has been sh!t. I bet there has been more going on there than we know about. He deserves 1 more year as captain.
