As Jack puts his head down to kick the ball, Rawlings is standing still.

After he kicks it, Rawlings is on the move.

As I said, im not excusing the kick, just wondering why Rawlings felt the need to run at him when it was a 15m kick.

Yeah total misunderstanding. You can't fault Brady for wanting to be on the move 20m from goal but it did contribute to the kicking error. Get over it people.

I saw on another thread where posters were demanding that only Wellsy take the kick ins. FFS, Wellsy has buggered up kick ins too. Everyone has.

14 disposals with 7 clangers from the AFL stats.
You seem frustrated, mav. Young Jack now in your cross-hairs?

I feel for you - no matter how much you want to, you simply can't criticise LT for his game on Sunday. It's OK, he will have an average game soon and you can launch your vitriol back his way. :thumbsu:

Jack is the biz, no doubt about it. He played a bad game but if he gets dropped after 1 bad game I will go nuts. Considering the shyte LT has dished up for 60+ games

Yep, it was Azza. Turned back on the play, swing around on his right and hit up Azza leading into space from 40 away.
I thought of this passage of play when reading the other thread where a Collingwood supporter is claiming Harry O has Azza's measure. In a lot of ways, he's right, as they match up quite closely physically. BUT, Azza is not only a strong mark, he is smart in the way he goes about it, e.g. where necessary, he jumps early to protect the ball. That's what he did in that passage of play, with the defender right on him but no chance to spoil.

Azza's also our new hitman. I hope GR can cue the hit on Gaff, which was superb. :thumbsu:

haha. I've wondered, do you actually get annoyed when he plays well?
no. I get annoyed when he plays shyte and people think he played well because he kicked 2 goals. With LT there are always so many lost opportunities.

everyone bags JZ for his kick out but no one bags LT for kicking it over Edwards' head when he was wide open inside the F50. Both things cost us a goal.

So that means only 3 of his actual disposals were clangers and that is how his efficiency was so high. Jack's game was nowhere near as bad as has been suggested, just as Kangatime is probably not as prejudiced as he may appear.

Is a free kick a Clanger? I thought giving away a free kick was recorded as a Free Against.

I thought he played well, but his game REALLY stood out to me when I watched the replay. He was excellent.
Yep. Azza was particularly good in the first half. His hands were on.

Presented up the ground well. His pressure continues to improve.

Influences contests at ground level a lot more, and produced a few smothers in the 1st half for memory.

Good start to the season.

Re: 19. Jack Ziebell

Where's JZ's kicking at? He seems to miss the intended target a little too often for my liking. Hope its something he works on and it improves. Same applies to his level of fitness I would've thought.

On the couch tonight - discussing our situation and where we're at, Roos sounded like he felt we were further behind than many people believed, despite Bon trying to pump us up, which was just to grow self belief.

But the key point I thought was his opinion on Cunnington and Ziebell as a former opposition coach. He said Swans looked at them closely at the time and felt they weren't great runners as kids, and that's very important in today's footy. They will improve but nobody knows to what extent. He brought Bastinac as an example of someone who WAS a great runner as a kid. Roos generally felt with 3 on the bench, good runners become even more important, and he implied that we struggle in that area.

Add to that interrupted preseasons to so many (Roos didn't say that) and we can see how hard a season we may be facing.

Mind you, Roos can say that, but I don't think Swans had any chance to draft either of them in any case.

I'm not worried about Cunnington in the slightest. Cunnington has the ability to find space in traffic and make it look like time stands still. I wouldn't say Dane Swan was a great runner in the early years, but he has worked at his fitness levels and now is an absolute gun.

Ziebell on the other hand is a real concern with his fitness levels, as he has had a full preseason under his belt and seems to have no greater fitness base then when he started.

19 and 20. Between them, a stress fracture, a 10 week knee injury and two broken legs and one actual pre-season. So, as Paul seems to be aware of their non-careers in middle distance athletics as young fellas, I'm not certain they've had heaps of chances to set about a huge change in this area yet.
