There was one piece of play where kamikaze Jack was back. He ran 100 miles an hour and smashed one bloke with his chest ramming him into another poor bloke, knocking them both over like ten pins.

It was a strategic application of pain and pressure.

He didn't care if they got a free kick early in the match. He was happy to pay that price as long as he got inside their heads for the rest of the game. It worked. The Tiges had lost the appetite for the contest by half time.

I get the feeling from an interview that Jack did earlier this year where he said he'd 'play anywhere the coach wants him to play' that he really wanted to say he'd prefer to spend more time in the midfield to help influence a game (hurt opposition) that watch on in the forward pocket. He did have a limited pre-season but last night showed us what he can do when he's let off the leash.

Thought his days as a mid were done but he’s been excellent. Must admit there were a lot of centre bounces where we set up with Jack, Cunners and Jed and I thought we’d get exposed on the spread but we just won the first possession more often than not. Still a lot of hack kicks out of the pack from JZ but 6-6-6 actually helps him in this sense cos it’s often to a one on one contest.

Hack kicks out of the middle is a great North tradition. Anthony Stevens was a great exponent...

A good coach would ensure that it was 1v1 ahead of the ball knowing he has players that have this as their MO.

Congrats on 200 JZ. You first had me in awe round 3, 2012 vs the cats. Kicked a goal on the boundary from 50+ In the last. Those goals in the last vs the cats in the semi and that passage when you crashed and bashed Selwood that led to that Wells goal in the last. Clearly you love playing well against the cats in the 4th qtr. Well done skipper

Despite only coming to the club at the start of this season, Tyson has praised Jack Ziebell’s influence ahead of his 200th game.

“He has a huge impact on the group both by the way he plays and how he carries himself from Monday to Friday,” Tyson said.

“The respect for him amongst the playing group is huge.”
