Comfortably sits in a debate that he's the best player from the 2013 draft. Clearly in the top 5, comfortably in top 3 and debatably the best.

Nobody would be complaining if the took him with pick 1. Star.

I tell you what - if Jobe returns as captain for one/two/three years, Heppell will have some serious competition for the captaincy in young Zachy boy.
In terms of output, zach stacks up pretty well against both. Not saying he's definitely better, but sits comfortably alongside them in what hea produced to this point.

One thing for is for sure, the 2013 restrictions were set to present EFC with a massive list gap and really set us back..
Dodoro has nailed 2 picks to put us in a position were we are arguably one of the better performing clubs from the 2013 draft.
Massive achievement which has gone a little unnoticed..

People get so caught up in his methods that they miss the good work he's been getting done for a while now. Basically since Knights came in as coach, the drafting/trading has been pretty good, but then a massive chunk of that has been compromised by the expansion clubs and the draft penalties.

It wasn't really until the Carlisle deal was over the line that he was recognised externally as having done a good job of late.

Bontempelli is the best player from that draft by a comfortable margin. Merrett sits in the top 3 and is clearly one of the steals of the draft.

Is apparently the best performing player in the comp under 21. By what measure, I'm not sure. Tim Watson mentioned it during the broadcast.
According to the AFL Fantasy points (the AFL.com.au equivelant of Supercoach/Dreamteam) he sits quite comfortably ahead of second (Lachie Hunter iirc, and a fair way ahead of third.

I would take Bont and Cripps ahead of him - No one else from that draft. We got a gem with pick 26
Statistically speaking (which is a completely stupid way of looking at things these days apparently) Zac is debatedly ahead of the Bont whilst Cripps inside game (contested possessions etc.) is superior to virtually everyone in the AFL.

Zac has probably the best all round game of any of that years draftees.

One player from the draft who is in white hot form is Josh Kelly. Couldn't believe his stats when I had a look earlier. He kind of fly's under a radar a fair bit when discussing the best players from the 13 draft. A lot of Melbourne clubs will be circling him at the end of the year. Wouldn't supirse me if St Kilda try and trade for him.

Saints board think they'll be able to trade their 1st rounder for a Kelly + a Steele/Marchbank as steak knives. Plenty of Lols in that thread.

As for Kelly himself, his numbers will continue to grow the more midfield time he gets, has been spending a bit of time off half back with with the amount of mids the giants have.

Just like how they thought they would land Carlisle for just a second rounder :$

My number one target for 2018 - Kelly is silk.
