I'm worried we'll stuff up what sounds like an awesome midfield by playing all of Bird, Myers and Hocking along with Watson, Goddard and Heppell makes it incredibly slow.
Watson will play forward more than midfield I reckon. Goddard should be played across the half back too.

Bird, Hocking and Myers can't be in the same team. Especially Bird and Hocking.

This what I think our midfield will be next year. Woosha is a smart man and I have full faith that he will do this.

Parish - Myers - Zaharkis
Leuenberger - Merrett - Heppell

More important then being smart - he loves speed in the midfield. Would assume he will be hugging players like Colyer when they return.

He and teammate Joe Daniher made a pact — having both joined the club smack bang in the middle of the club’s doping drama — the duo determined to lead the club out of the mire.

Having been part of forming contingency plans six months prior, Merrett and Daniher went straight to the powers that be and let their intentions be known.

There was little other option than to flick the switch and go.

“Midway through last year, (Joe and I) got together with Dyson Heppell and started to form a bond that we were going to carry this club through for the next 10 years,” Merrett says.

“It formed before (the 12 players) got banned, but when they did, Joey and I got together and talked to the key stakeholders within the club and tried to plan out the future going forward.”

Is officially elite, now getting media recognition and rightfully so. He is the perfect midfielder and Parish shouldn't take long to catch up to his level.
Has a genine argument for being the best player taken in his draft year at this point of their careers (Bont, Cripps top 3).

To think the nuffies didn't give him a single Rising Star vote either

I know he gets likened to Sam Mitchell quite a bit already. But looking at the stats compared side-to-side it's kind of ridiculous.

The stats are eerily similar with the only real difference being Zach bobbing up for the odd goal and a couple more tackles but Mitchell makes up for that with averaging a couple more clearances.

Similar contested stats but Id say Merrett wins more of his own ball

He reminds me of Daniel Kerr.
I get this, too.

Needs to improve his kicking, especially into forward 50 - His kicking effectiveness has dropped off in 2016, which may be a product of him having less time in the midfield.
Reckon it's the complete lack of physical protection around the ball this year. His kicking is lovely when he has space.

Mitchell without being a cock, i.e. he has friends.
