Player Watch #8: Bailey Scott

“At this stage we won’t be putting a time frame on his return, rather will be taking a long term approach to his recovery.”

Nope, I consider it a valid concern, he's gonna be out for a while.

Oh please.

It will be a valid concern if he misses all of next year's pre-season training. Not before.

Fractured feet are a far bigger worry for older players. I expect he’ll be right to go for a big preseason, even if we nurse him through to Christmas. I also expect he and Wrighty will do a ripping rendition of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies” with their newfound ballet skills at the end of year review.

Worst news of the season.

Somebody dying would come in at 2.
Another year, that would be funnier. A footy injury doesn't seem too bad this season, to be honest.

Bailey Scott is still a chance to return at the end of the season despite fracturing a bone in his foot.

Scott, who has played four games this season, had surgery in June to fix the problem.

“It’s still touch and go as to whether he’ll play again this season,” Joyce said.

“He needs to see the surgeon and have an x-ray, and depending on those results he could potentially start running again.”

(tangent)- Can't recall a situation like Joyce before? The bloke has been given a very long notice period and is still seemingly involved with strategic decisions and communications.

I'd be priming him for run with roles from round 1 next season.
Yeah no need to have him play this year, plonk his butt in the weights room and have him buffed and firing R1 next year.

Picks up the oppositions most damaging running player every week, whether they be half backs/wings or half forwards, and shuts them down, then provides a link up option when we have the ball.

Lots of hit up footpassing and tackling work over the preseason.

I like it.

His old man played that type of run-with role for us in the 90s didn’t he?

Agreed, his ability to keep his feet in those one on one contests you get out wide will be crucial here, he'll generate scoring opportunity turnovers.

He's the kind of bloke who has the mental discipline for such a role too.
