That may have been the greatest individual game I have seen by a Richmond player. Certainly in the conversation.
Watch the AFL highlights vid on YouTube.

Literally just a package of Sydney highlights with Franklin sniping people and Richmond being crucified by the umps with ridiculous 50m penalties etc.

Shows how much tougher the club is now to dish a few out, wear what they're owed, and grind down a team like that.

At the Docklands too. Pathetic dump of a ground...

In an All-Star game, looked a class above ...

will age like a fine wine. Always been smart and skills never too much running or agility
I actually thought for the first time last yr that father time and injuries were catching up with Jack. Maybe it was the injuries but there were little things that he didnt seem to do as well anymore.

I don't say this lightly as Jack has been a great servant to the club but he really should be dropped for his current form. He has been downright awful all season long minus the opening quarter against Carlton. He is close to incapable of marking the ball, he fumbles any time he has to pick it off the ground and is struggling to make the difference when kicking for goal from 35+ out. Norf were happy to put Pittard on him last night that is how bad he is going.

Chol has stepped up in comfortably playing the third tall forward role with some pinch hitting in the ruck but there is a clear lack of support for Lynch in terms of being able to mark the ball down the line or in a contested situation, Lynch has the excuse of being regularly out numbered and having the opposition best defender on him. Our second tall which is Jack really should be benefitting from all the attention Lynch is getting yet he is completely out of sorts. At the very least we should be trying CCJ in Jacks position and seeing if we can utilise his marking ability to maximise our forward 50 entries, even if it simply getting the ball to ground. CCJ may not be ready yet and might not end up being the answer but if teams are willing to put the likes of Pittard on Jack then that speaks volume for how out of form he is and we need to willing to try different options. Im not prepared to say just yet that Jack has hit father time but given the context of the season this season just might not be his season and that should present opportunities for other players.

He’s sore it’s that obvious when he kicks.
I’m not as overly fussed about form because every key forward in the game is the same but he isn’t right and looked to pull up even sorer late in last nights game with a knee issue.
Won’t be at all surprised if he has a rest.

Does not look right. Could be injuries, could be old age. For a guy who has been the #1 forward for his team for such a long time (sometimes the only forward), he's been bashed around pretty solidly all his career. Hit the ground hard in marking contests many times. Had a couple of serious injuries last year.

He's 31. Lloyd lasted to 31, Carey was useless after he turned 30. I happens to some key forwards, and it can happen quickly. There's generally a big cliff facing them.

He's had a rest with the COVID shutdown, but he is definitely way off the pace right now. Keep trying to get him right, (he was the best KPF in the last GF, and the best KPF in the whole comp in 2018) - but maybe he's done.

Ccj would be very threatening with his size and clunking ability.

The rucking ability with Soldo. Chol. Ccj. In the same 22 would be off the charts.

It doesn't mean it has to he the end for Riewoldt. Give him a few weeks rest? Legend , back him to bounce back

Father time looks to be taking its toll. Agree with others in 2018 he was sublime, his career best year. 2019 was a dip, but injuries contributed.

Nowadays hes struggling, doesn't have his trademark leap and spring at the moment, and he doesnt move that well any more. At this rate, 2021 might very well be his last year, but keen to see how he goes next year after a preseason before writing him off. Struggling a bit at the moment though, probably mentally as much as anything.

2017 was amazing.

Winning the flag with fellow bigs Townsend. Caddy. George. And ruckman Grigg

Jack did a lot of heavy lifting

Cotchin, Edwards, Houli, Prestia, Astbury, Caddy, Nankervis all out... fair bit of experience and leadership right there but let's drop Jack!
Form is temporary and class is permanent.
He worked his way into the game last night.

They say always back a champion when he is in a form slump (assuming that's all it is). They usually say that though when the team is so good they can afford to carry a player or if there is no obvious replacement. Well, I think we are good but not that good, we're running with the pack but we're not ahead of it.

As for a replacement, this is what Coleman-Jones was drafted for. He has to be given an opportunity. He would give at least as much as Riewodlt does at the moment and even if Riewoldt did eventually reclaim his spot at least Coleman-Jones will know he is definitely the heir apparent and hopefully not ask to be traded to SA because of a lack of opportunity. Love Riewoldt, one of my favourite players of all time, but he is just not pulling his weight at the moment.

Given its a short season with games close together - rotation might be a good option.

Lynch is a machine but he too might be helped with a rest?

Getting a game or 3 into ccj would be nice too

Didnt think he was even that bad tbh, competed all night

Thats just another way of saying he wasn't good. By his standards Jack has been awful since returning from the break. Fair enough Jacks standards that he has set throughout his career and far higher than most of our players and in all likelihood he is still our best option playing in his current form but we should at least experiment and find out whether that is actually the case. Lynch has two guys on him at all times and is playing with a broken hand and looks far more of threat than Jack who has a pissant in Jasper Pittard on him yet can't beat him in the air. Find out whether CCJ can give us a extra presence up forward and now is the perfect opportunity to do so given the context of this season and the up coming run of games with little break between them.

The way Jack is currently playing reminds me of Townsend. Trying to compete and doing the team things but not having a real impact on the game.

I don't think Jack has had a leap for a couple years now. He mainly uses his body to try and nudge his player under the ball or beat them when it hits the deck. But he couldn't even do that vs an undersized flanker in Pittard last night.

The biggest regression in his game is his hands. If there was a stat for dropped marks or fumbles, he'd be leading the league by the length of the Flemington. It's destroying our chains of play and is a big reason why our inside 50 counts aren't converting to scores.

Also in the limited chances he's getting he's blowing easy opportunities. Has no confidence in his goal kicking.

TASMANIAN DEBILS!!!
He gets older everyday. A rest would do him good, or maybe he needs more game time
More game time I reckon...the longer JR8 stays on the ground the better...just needs to pick his moments of forward attack a tad more smarter and stop absorbing the physical punishment that's directed at Cut Lunch...

Agree.
In his favour he can get his hands back working, that’s not an age thing. It’s mental. Same with kicking.
He fumbled early, one went straight thru his legs even. That’s mental, so if he gets his mindset right he’ll be ok.
Not many forwards get room to run and leap at the ball these days, the blocking, holding and 1v2 has seen to that.
We should also not forget Jack’s footy smarts and creativity with the ball in hand. He’s a beautiful field kick with either foot and hits targets inside 50.
Don‘t write him off.
