Well North are a better version than the ones we've had other close tussles with here at Marvel these last few years.
That was a bad day for us but we are blessed we kicked so straight in the first half as that got us the win.
When I see the same players out there that represented (embarrassed) us in the 2022 & 2024 GFs & some of our ex players, reserve grade & near end of career players, outplaying us, then I will never be filled with optomism that we have sorted out our past GF issues of the past.

We are in no way better than the 2024 team that sat at 13 & 1 after 14 games & losing the 15th game by 1point to the Dockers. We were flying at 13 wins & 1 loss & a percentage of 149%.
Right now we are 8 & 1 & 157%. I'm sorry but I still don't see a capacity to defend opposition momentum & stall it immediately as p'ship ship threats do. Adam Simpson knows it. Ken Hinkley knows it. When plan A gets taken away from us, we try to persist in making plan A work. Before we know it, the opposition put a gap between us & the players lose the ability to stay calm. That component seems much better this year but we still have pretty much the same lot who failed twice out there.
Sorry my fellow Swan supporters. I live in hope more than belief but no Heeney last week & this week & we were done.

Man . Brisbane had some proper stinkers on their way to looking so dominant in GFs.

Same with Richmond during their "Dynasty". They were the kings of winning ugly and just scrapping by.

Today. North played at a higher intensity and pressure than the swans. Yet the swans still won.

It was rubbish from us on that front. Awful.
Two weeks ago GWS beat them 105 to 97. GWS are hopeless.

Yes we won, but accepting performances like that is why Sydney have such a bad record in Grand Finals. You should never accept performances like that and say "well we still won" because it means we don't learn from it, or try harder.

I always ask myself "Is that what Geelong in 2007 would have done" and the answer is always no. They were ruthless, they didn't just want to win by 30 points, they wanted to win by 100 points every single game.

Tbh i kinda feel bad for North that was probably the worst we have played in a very long time Bice/Melican were a comedy act

Midfield disappeared all on Heeney again to carry us, so many missed tackles Stephens shrugged a few.

15.2 essentially won us the game

Backline is a serious concern no way we can go into a final with Bice/Melican/Lloyd.

Difference is we had a mare but won by kicking over 100 again so thats a positive but we nearly conceded 100 in multiple weeks thats bad.

Most of those points conceded were because of dumb handballs that resulted in turnovers. The reason we kicked more accurately was that when we didn't dumb handball trying to force overlap run and allowed it to develop naturally via a release kick and mark we were able to cut North apart. That game was won and lost on how we handled their pressure.

Can't play McLean next week if Curnow is not available. Moore will run off him all day. We should play Hamling as a negator. Either that or pistol who can run and compete in the air.

Nope too many senior players with nothing upstairs and a culture that is too gutless to call it out. Curtis, Zurhaar, Xerri, Comben. If North want to move forward and become a genuine contender these players need to pull their head out their arse or be delisted.

There's only so many talls to play and how often has McLean backed up that sort of game with a dud effort ?

Mids need a rocket. Two weeks in a row they've been beaten comfortably, especially out of the centre bounce and then following it up with incredibly poor work rates.

We have a lot of fantastic footballers, but their football IQ is shockingly low at times. Continuing with the corridor handballs for a long time while North kept shutting it down was mindnumbing.

It wasn't working because they were forcing it instead of allowing it to develop naturally. Corridor handballs cost more goals than they create as most of the time it's a release kick that allows that play to develop naturally.

Thats a laughable take

Xerri is a top 4 ruck in the league, and on his day the best ruck in the comp
Curtis should have been AA if he hasn't already
Zurhaar I think is a quality player on his day
Comben is a quality key defender than shut down Amartey pretty well

Agree with this. Does some nice things and finishes his chance. Has a bit to work on, but definitely enough to work with.

Hopefully he learnt a thing or two from playing on Parker today. Maybe even got a couple of tips. I reckon Luke would be kind enough to do that at this stage of their respective careers.
