Mobbenfuhrer - Scatterbrain, great band, gotta love Don't Call Me Dude! Heh, I call EVERYBODY dude

I think they were circa 1990-92 though from memory.

Also, Stroke was by Billy Squier, great song, it's on another one of my Napster compliations. That track is from about 1981.

Talking Heads were pretty good in the early 80s too...

Saw a great film tonight - Almost Famous - excellent soundtrack - worth checking out...

Didn't overly like Kate Paton - think she went to school with an ex-girlfriend who didn't like her and bitched every time she came on so maybe some updue bias crept in.

Know the Earthmen (not personally). You wouldn't happen to know a mate (semi-known Melbourne indie guy: James McDonald - beanpole thin - long hair - nice bloke - about 24 now? - good guitar player.)

With Kate L, it's a case of "less is more". As for Kate P, I don't know her, but I think she's a good radio host.

I don't know James McDonald....do you know if he's in a band at the moment?

Anyway, I should have my zine finished soon and will send a copy over to you.

Also, David Bridie from Not Drowning, Waving released his debut solo album late last year.

I think it is. Even and Cordrazine have been there biggest names of the last few years. They are still having their annual sale (well, they did last year, at least).

I think Even have a new record coming out too.

Another 80's band worth listening to is a group called "Galaxy 500". Anyone heard of them? Shinners, Dutchy?

Oh yeah, I loved Galaxie 500's version of Joy Divison's "Ceremony". Of course, the band split with one guy going on to form Luna while the other two formed Damon and Naomi. For those who are interested, the fanzine CHICKFACTOR(issue 13) has an interview with Naomi Yang from the band. I didn't warm to Galaxie 500 as much as others as I felt that their records all ended up sounding more or less the same....have one G500 record and you've got them all. But it's perfect late night listening.

Other bands from the 80s that deserve your attention are the Scottish trio of Aztec Camera (the first two albums), Orange Juice, and Josef K. All masters of fine jangly pop.

Anyone who wants a copy of Chickfactor, just e-mail me....$10 including p&p. Or you can get a copy at either PolyEster Records or PolyEster Books (but wait a week until I can get over there to leave 'em in the shop). Missing Link also has copies of Chickfactor, but they're not mine.

Mobbenfuhrer, I was at the Mentals gig on Sunday. I didn't see you there.

Fat Pizzas. They're Big & they're Cheesy.

Had a Fitzroy Lions cap on, and wore a KBW Tee Shirt ... in protest against the trendy ... think I even had AK26 sneakers to drive the point home.

Didn't see you either ... though I think my mate ate some of you.

I've actually got a album by both Even and Cordrazine - though they're both fairly old - is Ash still involved with Even? Patchy record but some good stuff. Don't know Galaxy 500 nor the spin off bands...

Didn't like Aztec Camera/ Roddy Frame that much, nor Orange Juice - but what about early Teenage Fanclub - they rocked.

Be interested in the fanzine Shinner - cheers mate.

And STILL no mention of Echo and the Bunnymen?

Next thing people will be telling me Flock of Seagulls was all in my imagintion. Haircut100 too!

ps Dutchy if not Aztec/Roddy (ie Scots music) what about the Waterboys,That Petrol Emotion (though im not sure if they were Irish or Scots)? Or Altered Images, Clare Grogan i had SERIOUS fantasys about (even more so after Gregorys Girl was realeased)

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Yep, grumpy ol Mr McCullock will be in the same carrage as Mark E Smith with a crow bar...

I preferred Porcupine - great first two tracks.

Grendel, I liked "this is the sea" but what's his name really failed to deliver on his ability from the Waterboys - even if his bandmates went on to make millions in World Party.

That petrol emotion- just ok - had a few 12inches by them but forgettable.

Altered images - two track wonders - its just the Clare Grogen fantasy everytime - she was pretty foxy at Kris K in Red Dwarf in the 80s too though...
