I'm 99.9% Mr. Scott has no idea who Arjen is, let alone has any means or inclination to contact him on how to do his job ...

The sort of armchair gratification that makes you far worse than you think you are.

Was fantastic in the last quarter, but a lot of his clearances were the 'throw on the boot' kicks that Ziebell gets slated for. Are the different standards applied because Jack is probably the best kick in the team?
It was the not the quality of the clearances that was impressive - the game was on the line and he got first hands to it almost everytime.

When you have clearance specialists in Cunnington, Dangerfield, Sloane and Greenwood in there - that is huge.

It's better to get the ball first and bomb it than let the opponent take it and go streaking towards the goal, no doubt. Let us not forget the significant of 'first touch'.
... that sounds dirty.

Liked that post purely for the last line.
I figured. It was the best bit!

You clearly have no concept of piss taking, or maybe you do actually... When you suggested that Turner isn't ready for the rough and tumble of the AFL?!! How's that shit sandwich tasting?

That video is pure poetry, and although Swallow is slamming it on the boot a lot, our forwards etc took possession as well.
That's the thing about throwing it on the boot at a stoppage - it's pot luck whether it goes to a team mate or not, but that's the difference between an effective clearance and "he plays like it's under 9s"

He did listen to me.

I'm sure I said Ziebell should be permanent forward which kinda worked ok. And I said that they should be out of the centre square as much as possible early in games to allow us to throw them in there when we need it.

Ie: the 2nd half.

Not only was it a brilliant tactic which won us the game. It served to remind the world what a sniggering little turd you are.
Swallow is in the top 6 clearance players in the comp off the back of an Achilles injury. Ziebell has obviously been injured for most of the year but is still tied for 20th. These blokes are midfielders through and through.

The decision of the coaching panel to play Ziebs at FF for the 2nd half was the same as the decision to play Cunners there last week - a man management decision.

And you can't really lay claim to Turner. You've latched yourself to every young kid that's come through the club like some kind of confused pedo. You were bound to get one right eventually

I liked this ;)

I never claimed Turner, I just said he should be in team after one VFL practice match ahead of a few of your favourites.

I'm not confused at all, I love our kids, our revival has been on the back of Brown,Turner & McDonald providing leadership, intent, spark and structure.

Swallow was struggling when I wrote that. Clearly struggling. He has fought back well the last 2 weeks.

Can we go back to Gibbo bashing/defending now, please?

Was Huge.

So was Jack.

We still trading them?
CONSISTENCY!!!!! These guys need to do it 3 weeks out of 4 to be considered anywhere near elite. Until they can do this, we will continue to tread water and be inconsistent. Re-visit this thread if they put a big finals campaign together, otherwise, one good game in Tassie doesn't have me proclaiming how wonderful they are. No-one doubts these guys can play, but they need to do it CONSISTENTLY.

Spitta is consistent, it is what got him the captaincy.

He's coming from a mile back the fact he can play high level footy this year is great. The fact that he just won us a game by sheer all out effort is remarkable.

There have been people on here suggesting he get traded. Suggesting that he get stripped of the captaincy. People even suggesting he get stripped of it and it floated to try and woo a bloke from the crows.

It's out of sight and forget anything the he's ever done.

He has one of our most consistent players over the last few years and after a performance like Saturday I expect that to continue through finals.

As for Jack, he does need consistency, he needs to consistenly stay on the freaking park. To this point right now we haven't seen what he can become because injury and ridiculous suspension have cruelled his career.

Jack stay on the park and has confidence in his body and his attack on the ball and we have a genuine A grader. Jack will captain after Spitta.

So whats you point ??
Is this a pissing contest?

We've made the 6 come the business end of the season with a one dimensional forward structure.....and like Robbie Shaw said with throwing marking mids up forward throws the opposition out of whack trying to counter us.

The argument re Zeibell being a full time mid.....we'll all see at the end of his career. Lets hope the powers to be, juggle the playing group in a way they all want to stay together and that Jack plays ( wherever he plays with ONLY the NMFC)

I thought my point was pretty clear - Andrew Swallow and Jack Ziebell are midfielders.

Ziebell has been rested forward for a long time and will continue to be rested forward but he will not be a permanent forward any time in the next few years (I won't rule out this happening in the twilight of his career ala Chappy)

1. Swallow and Ziebell. Been waiting a long time to write those two names and after Saturday it’s absolutely appropriate. Swallow’s final 10 minutes were the best of his career. “He willed the team over line,’’ coach Brad Scott said. Swallow had influence at six of the last eight stoppages as North won by seven points. Swallow was huge and Ziebell was probably the matchwinner. Rested forward he had nine shots at goal for 4.5 to go with 25 disposals. Mids going forward is giving the Roos a different dimension. Last week it was Cunnington, this week it was Ziebell.

Midfielders today can't just play one , just like key forwards learn to play down back b4 going up to be the main focus @ FF/CHF . Did you see Mathews play footy Jay-Z?......he was a rover against Cable but ended his career at FF. Kicking 700 goals. My argument is that players can't afford to be keyholed they need to have some flexibility into their game. Like Ive said I prefer him 70% forward and about 30 % in the centre for crucial ball ups. I reckon its great the Scotty is prepared to mix it up bait , I mean we've all been guilty bemoaning that he won't switch to plan B or C if plan A doesn't work out well.
