Must be on top of the world after copping a forearm/elbow to the chin and then getting potted for retaliating:drunk:
Yea, that really sh**ed me with Brad, l get that we need to have a measured and mature response etc etc from him, but potting the captain over one free kick, get knicked brad, he can be out on his ass like McArtnery the way he's going.

You stand up by putting your head over the football and winning the next contest. Any fat slob, brain dead bar fly can go and swing a punch.

Swallow has been great this year. He let himself down and the team down after the Hodge incident.
I agree. Not sure I agree that the Coach should be saying that in press conferences though. Behind closed doors Brad Scott: Spitta what the hell was with the free after mate? Line him up when the ball in within 5 metres next time.

Really proud of the way Swallow stood up for himself.

Exactly what you want from your Captain and couldn't care less he gave away a free.

If our other players showed as much heart we wouldn't be in the position we are as a club.
People give him a lot of crap in the media and on here about his supposed lack of leadership. This guy gives more than a 110% every match for his teammates, its the other leaders like Gibson, Harvey and Thompson letting the club down atm.

Which part, he did pot Swallow over giving away a free kick that every player would give away after an incident like that with Hodge. I was fine with him saying respond in a mature response etc, but if you pot players and start unintentionally bagging them, that's a slippery slope with losing the players like Mcartney.

We talk a lot about players having 'credits in the bank' when they have an off day. Now, while I don't personally have a problem with what he said, I'd like to think Brad's unrelenting support, year upon year, for his players gives him 'credit in the bank' when it comes to an occasional 'potting'. He's the coach ffs. Yeah, it's probably best said privately and my money is on the fact that he had already said as much to Spitta so it wouldn't have been news.

Many of us want Brad to take a tougher stance, and when he does, we whinge? (I know I'm generalising about 'we' and 'tougher stance', but I think 'people' might be a bit precious about things given the Hodge incident.) We played very poorly in my view, and got sucked in, the same way McEnroe's opponents used to, back in the day. They took our players 'out of the zone' and we fell for it, hook, line and sinker and, as the captain, Swallow needs to show an example, or an example gets made of him. (Isn't this the right-wing way, by the way? ;))

Harvey has been carrying us for 10 years because he is a great player not a great leader, at least for the last 4-5 years that is. The leaders of any team should do the little things 100% of the time to lift the team. I realise doing some great 100 metre running goals can get the team up, but when we are getting tested and the momentum is swinging, we need leaders that are smothering, tackling, shepherding, bumping and blocking space. These things just aren't in his vocabulary any more. Great, skilful player. Great leader, not so much.

Well each to their own but the guy has busted his ass for this team for years....

players like THompson, Petrie, JZ these are the guys that should be "leading"

What he should have said is that this team lacks anyone prepared to take the game on wgen it gets tough this year...when the going gets tough like last week and Rd 1 we go missing. ...Instead bags the Captain. ..a red herring comment to throw the chickens off the real issues me thinks.
