Terrible news, and just as he was really starting to find his best form. His hand looks pretty nasty in that video, hopefully he's not just being overly optimistic with the time frame.

On the plus side, Froggy will get a good crack at it now and Cunners and JZ could well thrive. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

Dumont gets a really big opportunity now.
Let's hope like hell he can step up!!!
If at the start of the year someone said to me we were coming up against an undefeated Freo without Dal, Wells, Spitta, Grima and potentially no BBB over in Freo I would think we would get bent over. But we beat these bastards last year with a fairly depleted line up, and I expect us to give it a shake this time. A whole lot will come down to Cunners, Jack, Froggy, Basti and Jacobs.

Who will lead the team out Drew or Jack?

Big out, hope he has a speedy recovery (there goes 8-10 tackles a game)

Watch cunners absolutely destroy the midfield now. I feel like he is a very similar inside player and he plays his best footy without our captain (as bad as that sounds)

It hurts us, but we did OK without him for the first half of last year. Then again, we had Wellsy & NDS in form and playing.

Trent Dumont, over to you.

Good thing Basti is coming into some form. We'll need him.

At least we have an excuse if we lose to the Fockers.

North Melbourne captain Andrew Swallow hopes he only misses one AFL game with a broken thumb.

The star midfielder suffered the injury during Friday night's win over Essendon and he had surgery on Monday.

He will miss Saturday night's big away match against unbeaten Fremantle.

"It depends on how the thumb pulls up and as long as it doesn't swell up too much and it's not too painful, I should be able to get out there next weekend," Swallow said in a club statement.

Obviously Dumont is the man.

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere but did anyone else notice that LT wandered into a few centre bounces on Friday night and did quite well in there? Smart move in my view, with Boomer and Nahas still able to crumb up forward and allow Jack and Cunners to "rest" occasionally, on the ground up forward, rather than on the bench.
