Was it Mitch Robinson who cleaned him up at the Gabba ?, hence the head bandage for the last 2 weeks
Could be that as well (concussion effects could last for a few weeks), but people were bagging Swallow for fumbling some balls (not fondling Twinkletoes) after he fractured his thumb and he still fumbles now and again more than normal.

It's quite amazing that although he's not having as good a year as last year, he's still 5th in the comp for clearances.
I wouldn't say that he's not having as a good a year as last year. I would say he is not playing as well as he was pre-achillies injury.

That's probably about right - and understandable too. FWIW I may be one of the people referred to as saying he had a bit of shocker. I also made it clear that I saw the game on TV only - I go to every game in Melbourne so I understand only too well that different things are highlighted live and at home. I still think he could use a rest prior to finals. That won't happen with Ziebell out, although I also highly doubt whether it would have happened with him in either. Possibly it wouldn't change his output much either way - Swallow doesn't necessarily come across as a player whose consistency changes much with injuries.

Swallow has never been a great kick or been particularly fast. But what he has had was explosive first 5-10 meters, which helped him to get away from the contest. That seems to have been affected by his injury, and means his disposals are under more pressure. Perhaps the depth of his kicking has been affected as well. But he is still a consistent clearance and tackling machine.

Was great today.... however i think its time to hand over the captaincy and focus on his own footy......
That's a bit harsh. The guy is doing a great job. He's still young enough. Maybe, Ziebell may prove to be better in the future. However, we have Swallow now and he's good enough for us to back him in for next year at least.

Haven't watched the replay yet but seemed to be just best game since the achillies.
Same, only going off watching it live - he felt immense.

Nothing glitzy but simply effort after effort effort, winning possession and getting out to his teammates consistently.

Excellent captain's game.

Well you know, all it did was increase his trade value at the end of the year. \sarc

This thread is a bloody embarrassing read.
Nothing wrong with handing over captaincy.... and its time for us to do it too!
