Go watch the game again folks. Kennedy was killing us. First bounce of the last quarter Goddard went to him and immediately his output was slowed and Goddard hurt him going the other way. He was the single mos important reason we got back in the game. Obviously not for explosive runners, but Goddard should be given a run with role against all other dominant mids for the rest of the season.

He reduces their impact at the stoppapge, provides leadership at the stoppage and takes advantage of the lack of accountability of most stars to hurt them the other way. It is perfect for our team balance because we neutralise a star and can keep attacking.

Gets another year for mine. Two if he pantses that clown Ralph on twitter for his "expert" "analysis" of the last play

Still want to see him win a flag. Just to get right under the skin of those who call him a flog

Just all this talk of him not being elite or could be playing his final season.

Not sure what more the guy has to do.

    He's been amazing this year!

I saw that and the part I found disappointing was the part when Bellchambers was kicking the ball into the forward fifty and BJ basically said that he was aiming for the pocket to cause a stoppage, the bit I found wrong with that was why wasn't he looking for a tall forward to take a mark or have a crumbing goal from one of our smalls.

The other thing which I noticed was when BJ was kicking in, we had three or four Essendon players in the center jogging towards the wing, why were they not moving forward to offer a lead or long option.

On point 1, I think the issue is what BJ was talking about top of the square tall target was a risk, if Sydney got the ball, quick up the centre was a risk.

The latter I think that was an issue the whole last 4 minutes no was was running. They didn't have to be running for attacking players just create an option. That burnt Joe too I think with his mark.

BF is becoming a parody of itself. Player dropped after a mistake which could be argued is good play by the opposition. Follow the BF mantra and there will be no AFL because players make mistakes.

Don't forget that if a player is injured, you can't ever risk bringing them back in as it must be too early.

We have seen it pretty much every week this season yet time after time players have been turning that around to produce good footy.

Mate I was 15 meters away from Tom as he was lining up and trying to figure out who he could go to and I had nothing. There were only the small forwards, who started clustering into that pocket and I was thinking oh my god he's gonna kick it there and Isaac Heeney is gonna murder us, although I didn't expect that no Essendon player would even try to run at the ball. Tom did the 'team' thing that any player would have done but unfortunately the team thing here was also stupid as shit and teammates should have either been offering another option behind the ball or more flooding to that pocket.

From the footage, I could tell that he had no tall target and in the end went for the best option but it struck me that the team mind set was or as BJ put it, the plan was "go to the pocket and force a stoppage." Before hearing BJ saying that I hadn't thought much of it.

And that is why you shouldn't drop 'em after a bad game. Fuels them to hit it out of the park (HowardMoon) in the next game.

Zero touches in the first 25 minutes of the final term. Where was he when we needed the leaders to stand up?

    Actually 2 quarters.
Played a good 1st and 3rd quarter. Did very little in the second and invisible in the last. And yes he was far from our worst and I wouldn't be dropping him.
Don't think I'd offer him another contract though
