Player Watch #9: Charlie Spargo

Remove this Banner Ad

Whats spargo's job security like? Asking from a fantasy perspective. Looked very good last weekend.
Kent out for 5 or 6 weeks and Jeffy Garlett currently in the 2's.
If he goes well again this weekend I see him being a reasonable cash cow but would be surprised if he played more than say 10 games.
Tough one as small forwards are pretty up and down but he seems hard at it and has a crack which Goodwin likes

Big tick for this kid. He has taken his chance and run with it. He took 9 marks today which was 5th most of any player on the ground. On the flip side IMO it’s one of the main reasons Garlett is out of the side.

Something else statistically for Spargo fans here.

Him and Bayley Fritsch are Dees' only debutants of 2018.

Fritsch wears the number made famous by Ron Barassi. (No. 31.)
No. 31 was also the number Charlie's dad Paul was most remembered for during his career at North Melbourne.

Paul's grandfather, Bob Spargo Sr, who was Charlie's great-grandfather, played 3 games for Melbourne.

He is a very clever footballer. I was just watching the second quarter. He had a perfect front and square to hogan that lead to his snap and first goal. Then when hogan earned a free kick, everyone stopped and spargo kept playing and hand balled over the top to ANB

Love him. Great pressure for a first year player. Great awareness around goals, good skills and seems to make great decisions. Once he builds a tank I reckon he'll be a great rotation player through the middle as well. I loved the selection at the draft and said straight away that this kid looks like a natural footballer. So glad he's taken his opportunities.
