AFL Player # 9: Dylan Shiel

it grinds my gears with every crap kick or handpass over the head to no one

Blokes got a very small footballing iq. You just know that most times he gets the ball it’s going to be a possession that disadvantages his team mate. Can’t think of many left footers with as poor disposal as his

People expecting him to be Chris Judd but it was never going to be the case. Did we pay slight overs? Depends on how you rate draft picks.

Two first rounders at the 10 mark is not really a guaranteed success of a good player and especially the midfielder we need. He's less of a worry then our bottom 6 players and a few old guys.

Fix that area first and the rest takes care of itself.

Clearly capable of more than his shown in the last few games, he's a skilled footballer.
As Kelvin alludes to, the price for Shiel wasn't outrageous. You hope that can get a player about as good at that position, plus some more help elsewhere on the park.
The issue is that the club seriously overrated our list and paid that amount for a guy who is an excellent support piece to an established team looking to make a run. Shiel will win us games here and there, but he's not the 'answer'.

Nah Merrett has been our best midfielder this year. Shiel started the year well, but hasn't been great after his impressive Collingwood game.
Honestly think McGrath has been our best. The most consistent for sure.

He has certainly been down on what he did last season so the punters have reason for concern. Personally I would be backing him to bounce back.He has a proven track record of being a very good midfielder but he has been a disappointment so far this year.

He was quite good earlier in the year too, billed as a Brownlow contender before getting tagged out of the North game and then suspended for a couple.

big game

No u.

On the whole he was good, two terrible handballs and that last kick where he was clearly gassed and sold into trouble anyway.
Had an easy set shot for the money spent you expect better
