Dunstan is going ok for stkilda, can't see his engine being much bigger or being faster than cripps, he's an inside machine, so long as he makes each stoppage and is accountable for his man I don't see why we can't play him, sub him at 3qtr time if he runs out of puff....

I'd say he'd be pretty fit if he can gather 34 possessions and finish the last quarter as strongly as he did. He's looked in terrific shape in the off season. Where did this theory come that he lacks fittness?

Us Carlton supporters aren't used to seeing players come straight out of the draft and straight into the AFL side. Our drafting hasn't been good enough for so long. Plenty of teams around playing first year players from the get go and having success. The AFL is where he belongs and who cares if he has some poor games here and there, our team's pretty ordinary, we're going to have poor games any way. Hell we might actually improve if we play the young players,no chance of improving if we don't.

Hate our attitude towards young players. They don't all need to be played in the VFL for a while.
Time to play him in the back pocket.

He broke is leg in 2012, grew about 20 cm in the last twelve months and by all reports was out on his feet at qtr time on the weekend. It's a great sign that he worked through it on the weekend, but it also says to me that he isn't quite ready for AFL level.

More than happy to be proven wrong, but after years of mis-managing players and potentially ruining them I'd prefer we remain a little patient on Patrick (the most exciting prospect we've had since Marc Murphy)

1 - Not relevant, apart from the leg which seems fine, most kids will have an growth spitr before they are drafted as many 16-18 year olds do. 2012 was 2 years ago...

2 - Also not relevant, perhaps that means he was working hard and pushing himself. Ever seen what Judd looks like every time he comes to the bench? Also looks out on his feet. Can't have been too bad if he picked up 34 touches. 18 touches in the second half, 10 touches in the last quarter in a close match, this is not a player lacking fitness.

3 - We have a lot of blokes in our AFL team barely up to AFL level and who never will be up to the level required to get a game in a top side. Cripps will be at the level required to get a game in a top side.

Fair enough, I don't agree but the MC will make the call if they think he's up to it. It will be great to have him in the side.

I see the positives in both arguments but one thing we can all agree on is he had a great show.

I'll leave it for those more in the know than me to decide if he is fit enough for an afl game.

Hmmmm. Menzel, Kreuzer and Yarran are more exciting than Cripps.

Just to clear it up: Crippa is not injured. Just had terrible cramp & hence needed help getting off ground.

Been told by someone who spoke to him post game.

I probably didn't explain it well enough, the most exciting in terms of need for the team, those mentioned are all exciting for different reasons. The way the game has been trending with midfield size, we've been left horribly exposed by drafting undersized flanker types. Apart from Bell who is coming from a long way back, we don't have any genuinely powerful midfielders coming through.

Menzel could well be the best of the lot in a few years, but for midfield structure and importance I would have Cripps right at the top of that list.

I like how I kept hearing about how he was out on his feet but he just kept soldiering on until he cramped at the final siren.

Need more of that warrior/Judd like mentality.

The Tractor.

You can't replace a ruck with his intensity and second efforts.

Was just so fun to watch. Like it made you smile. He is a monster out there.

His celebration after the goal was just as good. Clenched his fists and just screamed 'yeahhh' at everyone around him.

Essendon did pretty well without a ruck last night :p

Agreed, Kruezer is irreplaceable. Sadly his body hasn't allowed him to play at his best for quite some time, I'm not relying on him and if he does come good it will be a massive bonus for us.

He looks to be a lot classier than you'd expect from an inside mid, his ability to create space for himself is also top notch.
