What do we think Cripps really said to Gibbs?

He could have implied for Gibbs to get ahead of him for the receive. No?
Why tell him to go, he already was, all he had to do was handball to him.

Just looks like Cripps thought he may as well give to Gibbs who is a better shot while he bumped the player himself.

Am I the only one who thinks he looks about 13 when not standing next to someone to show his size?
Hence "The Baby-Faced Assassin" :thumbsu:

Fitter Cripps flourishing

As one of the biggest midfielders in the AFL, Carlton’s Round 4 NAB Rising Star nominee Patrick Cripps says he wasn’t always that tall.
Speaking on 3AW’s Sports Today, Cripps said he shot up almost 20cm in his mid-teens.

“When I was 16, I was 170-175cm, so I had a bit of a growth spurt .. now I’m 193-194cm,” he said.

When asked what could have sparked his growth spurt, the young Western Australian joked his dad may have had something to do with it.
“The old man must have chucked in a bit of fertilizer back on the farm,” he said.
Cripps played a standout game in the Blues' win against St Kilda on Anzac Day, racking up 33 disposals, sticking 11 tackles and kicking two goals.
It seems the hard work is paying off, as Cripps has revealed that running and fitness are the main areas of his game that he has focused on improving.

“In 2012 I fractured my ankle, so I didn’t have that much lead up in terms of preparation," Cripps said.
“At the end of last year I sat down with the coaches and Juddy took me aside and told me what I needed to work on."
Cripps worked hard during the off-season and dropped 3-4kg, helping his fitness for the upcoming season.
“The more pre-seasons I get under my belt the fitter I’m going to get, so hopefully I’ll get fitter as the year goes on and hopefully my endurance can improve,” he said.
Cripps is hoping to line up against Collingwood this Friday night for the blockbuster game at the MCG.

We're getting there folks............ :)

After hearing that, Tullamarine has just put in a fertilizer order so large that it's shown up on terrorist watch lists

It's great isn't it?

Really don't want to lose people like Judd from our club.
The guys has put in a truck load of work just to be let down by some that have come to the club.

May have been a very different story had have we recruited more "Cripps" types than.....................some others.

Absolutely agree. We need people like Judd who actually care about the other blokes on the team, and can give them peer-to-peer pointers on how they can improve. If everyone only worries about themselves then there won't be progress...they need to raise the standards across the whole team.

Cripps is setting a great example.

Cripps was a 'necessary'

I know there may be times that McCarthy may kick a bag and we'll be pining for not taking the tall but there's a lot more to the make up of a squad than natural ability alone. Very happy with the types (I know....it's a terrible term) that we've brought into the club.

It is great , except Gibbs is Cripps mentor and as part of the leadership group should be the one delivering this sort of message.

of topic here but why limit to one nomination per week?
There are Hogan, Cripps and another kids who performed really well last week, why not nominate them all and don't nominate anyone next week if not worth nomination.

The winner still has to be good and consistent across the whole season...

IIRC They had two nominations back in round 22 2002/3 one of them was Matthew Lokan, whom was delisted two years later, can't remember who the other nominee was ..

Reckon Juddy would have sat down with more than a few of our young players over his time at the club. Think Cripps is the right kind of professional who listens moreso than most though, and then acts upon advice to change for the better.

Pretty sure Judd has been mentoring Bell for a while now....it's beginning to show.

off topic but since we are praising the Judd ...

http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2015-04-30/boekhorst-debut-a-relief
As a Western Australian, Boekhorst said it was “overwhelming” to be drafted to the same team as one of his football idols: Chris Judd.
“As a kid you grow up watching him (Judd) and Ben Cousins dominate that era and to come over and play alongside him is an honour,” he said.
“Throughout training drills he comes up to you and gives you little tips and hints of what to do and when to do it, so he’s a really good mentor on the track.”

I'll be twice as happy when the name Murphy, is spoken about in the same manner.
