He is being disrespectful to Cripps!

I know, Aph, that's what I'm saying.

He has every right to push Hogan's case, and shouldn't be criticised for doing so.

However he should certainly be held to account for the way he's gone about it this time round. Praising one player shouldn't require the criticism of another.

He is trying to win back the 'Dees faithful' after what he said recently.

“Basically, If Jesse Hogan doesn’t win the Rising Star this year, no key position player will ever win it again,” Lynch told Fox Footy.

“That’s not taking anything away from Cripps. He’s had a great year, but he probably runs around without too many players on him.:$

This argument that hogan plays a more difficult position compared to sir patrick is not correct. Pat plays in the most congested, competitive environment on the field. He is not just collecting possessions, he is creating possessions, and often when he does, he is giving the ball out to the advantage of his team mates. The modern game is very midfield centric and the best players play there. Pat has done a great job and has got better as the tags have gotten harder. Hogan has been magnificent as well. Both have claims
Agree with these statements wholeheartedly. Cripps has consistently played more better games (sic) than Hogan over the year, and has done it with heavy tags to boot. Yet this media campaign to get Hogan over the line is a joke. Yes, Hogan is a great player and will be a ripper forward, but to continually convince the selection panel of his right to the award all because of KP status is mischievous and wrong.

Yes, no one ever goes to Cripps. Raines, Vince and whoever else was sent to the kid throughout the year say hi.

Plus Pendlebury having to be sent onto him to quell his influence when he was single handedly destroying their mids in the clearances.

What a seagull.

I am sick of hearing this shit about a player like Cripps coming along every year or two, because he's a midfielder. He's a ****ing inside mid who has collected stats in his first real season that are far and away better than other inside mids at the same age. Exactly the same as Hogan has done. Pump up Hogan all you want he is a great player, but if he's going to win let him win on facts, not bullshit made up about Cripps and how "easy" his role is compared to Hogan's. If it's so ****ing easy then name me the players who have collected Cripps-like clearances and contested possessions in their first year? Why has Cripps dominated compared to even guys like Waton, Hannebery, Kennedy and Selwood in their first years?

Tell the ****ing truth.

Exactly right.

Heck, I'm completely cool with Hogan winning the RS, but some of the stuff that people try to say about Cripps to deliberately devalue him is quite facepalm worthy.

If.........and probably when.......Cripps misses out on the R.S. tomorrow, it would be good if we just let it pass.

Let's not head down the standard 'we/he was robbed" path on this one.
We know his value to our team and it goes far beyond just his on-field value.
He'll be rewarded well beyond some tall 'experts' opinions and a shiny new medal in 2015.

I've been scanning the threads and I can assure you that Carlton posters are a reasonable bunch.

Cripps is a great player, would love him over at the Dogs. Can't wait to see what Bont's like when he's Cripps' age! :p

Losing to Hogan wouldn't be an insult, Hogan's a generational player. Either one is deserving. Losing to Lewis Taylor, on the other hand... Yeah, don't stress the Rising Star Award.

Best of luck to the lad.

Still can't believe the Bont lost to that little smarta*se from the Lions.

I saw an article today from earlier this year where an AFL team analyst said Taylor basically runs around in circles and doesn't damage the opposition at all. Thanks David King

At least there's no chance of some squib stealing it this year.

I fully expect Hogan to win the award, all the media chatter lately has been pumping him up as having it in the bag. Cripps obviously deserves to win, but his early season form and overall consistency doesn't seem to count for much. It's almost like because he is excellent every game he doesn't stand out.

No-one will be surprised if Cripps wins. It's clearly going to be close.

Pick your chin up from the floor.

Congratulations to P Cripps for 2015 Rising star runner up.

Well done champ.

PS. if I were you, I wouldn't even bother going to the awards ceremony. Can you do a no-show just because you had something better on, like ear hair plucking or belly button lint gathering?
