My point was that the public vote agreed with the decision, rightly or wrongly. MS summed the decision up well i thought.
Collingwood supporters watching the Collingwood grand final voted for the Collingwood player. It's why the all Australian panel has the job.

It's all past now.

half the people here hate carlton.

haters gonna hate.

Coz the players gonna play,
Play play,
Play play

And the haters gonna hate,
Hate hate,
Hate hate

I'm just gonna shake,
Shake shake,
Shake shake

Shake it off,
Shake it off!

His cousins is Jason Cripps who collapsed with a heart attack today. Best of luck to him and Patrick who must be feeling it tonight.

Pretty sure they're not related.
Patrick and Jamie Cripps are cousins.

Reading those little lyrical pearls from the Prof(T Swift), now I can see where Malthouse went wrong. I guess he should not have Shaken it off so much and pulled his finger out and done something!!

Here's a post with stats I posted on the main board in response to a poster banging on about us overrating Patty

No one is denying Hogan is playing great footy - he's a joint favourite with Cripps for a reason.

Like Hogan, Cripps is playing in a very difficult position for a 20yr old - inside mid, body on the line at every contest against the biggest, most physically developed mids in the game. Like Hogan, he is matching up against the opposition best inside mids - older, more physically developed opponents and excelling. If you want to look at comparisons:

Ollie Wines 1st season - 22 games, 18.8 disposals, 8.3 contested, 0.5 goals, 3.8 tackles, 2.9 clearances
Joel Selwood 1st season - 21 games, 19.2 disposals, 6.9 contested, 0.33 goals, 4.5 tackles, 3.43 clearances
Cripps 2015 season - 9 games, 22 disposals, 14 contested, 0.5 goals, 4.75 tackles, 5.88 clearances

Selwood and Wines are two of the best in the business and are recognised as having come straight into the game and dominated in the middle. I'm not suggesting he's going to reach those heights and become a star (we can dream) but the stats show very few mids come in at his age and dominate the way Cripps currently is.

Elite inside mids usually take years to get close to the sorts of numbers he is pulling out (think Kennedy, Watson, Dangerfield, Priddis) but Cripps has played 11 games and is sitting 8th in the league for contested possessions. Numbers aside, what is most exciting is his composure, vision and efficiency.

So are Carlton supporters excited by Cripps - hell yes but we certaintly aren't overrating him.
Will he win the Rising Star? It's neck and neck at the moment and injuries aside, I think it will come down to how his and Hogan's bodies hold up in the 2nd half of the year.

Stat's numbers against Selwood/Wines after their first full 2 seasons:

Selwood 2007/08 - 45 games, 22.43 disposals, 7.86 contested, 0.28 goals, 3.73 tackles, 3.45 clearances
Wines 2013/14 - 49 games, 21.6 disposals, 10 contested, 0.45 goals, 4.4 tackles, 3.9 clearances
Cripps 2015 season - 9 games, 22 disposals, 14 contested, 0.5 goals, 4.75 tackles, 5.88 clearances
You are correct, Cripps has given Carlton supporters some joy in a season that has gone horribly wrong. His stats stack up with the very best at the same stage in there careers. This kid went away in the off season and got himself a running coach, this is commitment and this is the type of players we need at the club, willing to put in the hard yards and do whatever it takes. Just imagine how much better he is going to get with a couple of more pre seasons under his belt.

I see the Blues board has become a Blue Light Disco.

It's my daughter's favourite song...

With all the man love going on for Crippa in this thread, the blues board usually resembles the blue oyster bar disco...

* not that there's anything wrong with that...

I fear attracting additional negative comments concerning my age but I'm prepared to take a chance for you ferrisb.

Kenny is a contemporary of mine and a wonderful player.

He turned up with his other WA mate in 1981. It's fair to say that I feared for his safety when I saw him in the Carlton kit. Only Robbie Flower has built a career with a build like that so the chances were slim. His body had the flexibility and strength of rubber and his mindset was like steel. So the Indian rubber man with courage very few possess was an instant hit. His kicking was only passable but his talent to read the play and mark made him very special. When you add courage that few have matched Kenny is an all time great of Aussie Rules.

Special memories.

Mark of the year when he did a Jono Brown before it was fashionable.
1982 GF. Jimmy 'The Ghost' Jess took him out early (God bless Gary Wilson for fixing Jimmy up at the 'G). Kenny would have been out of the game today but not then. His contribution in the win was priceless.
Finally, he was one of the original 'swing men' of football. I think I remember him kicking a big haul (possibly 8) at Carlton one day but I am getting old.

I hope Pat aspires to the level that Kenny Hunter achieved as Premierships are built around these types of players.
I was down at his parents newsagency the following Monday to congratulate him on a job well done...

I'm looking forward to the point in time that Cripps starts to get some recognition from the wider football community and the penny drops with Richmond supporters that they could have taken him instead of Ben Lennon, and Collingwood with Nathan Freeman.
That will be a joyous day.

BTW, do we all think that Cripps might get his first Brownlow votes from the Saints game?
Can't wait to hear that first "Carlton - P. Cripps - 3 votes"

Once the penny drops, I'm sure their regret will be......(wait for it)......Crippa-ling.....

(awwwww I'm so sorry, I'll make sure I won't be here all night. definitely don't try the veal...)
