Oh Harks, how could you?

I read your VFL reports religiously. They are my development and talent assessment bible.

Doubt is now creeping in. How can I trust anything you write*? I mean, does Fields even have a left leg? :D

*At least I know you are honest. Wouldn't falsely admit to that....

The first 2 training sessions I saw him:

1. Chasing down Yarran with ease.
2. Regularly kicking 60mt drop punts.
3. Hitting the centre square from kick-outs with barrels
4. Spotting up players through congestion at will, by hand and foot.
5. Leaping over all the 195cm+ talls, punching the ball out of their hands.

Unfortunately though, that's as good as it got.....'twas short...but sweet :)

My biggest Great White Hopes of the last 10-ish years...

Menz - some of his early stuff made me think he could be the next Stevie J

Krooz - I thought (well, mostly hoped) that he could possibly combine the versatility of Cox and the dual ruck/fwd capability of Salmon. Admittedly this is when I let my imagine get a little bit carried away, but he showed so for ruckman despite playing 1st ruck as a kid

Murph - had an excellent first season until his injury. Consistently built from there.

Walker - 1st game excitement....

Admittedly, these guys' output was a little more on the potential side of things or very good for a kid rather than breakout level of performance.

It's probably no consolation but he's going ok it seems for Peel Thunder.

If one could implant Cripps' mentality into Bootsma, you'd have yourself a wonderful player.

Might still make it.

Freo were said to be keen on him last yer but wanted him to get settled first.

Playing reasonable football and, if the talk of a thin draft is accurate, he's a chance.

Still a kid.

:D

From BF's resident Freo reserves watcher on Bootsma..

He is playing in defence and playing good footy.Could be in line for a rookie spot at Freo.

I'm not sure even Lyon can get his focus 100% but maybe.

Disagree, never saw the talent in Bootsma others seemed to see.

Got lost without the ball, sagged off his opponent too much, worked underneath it too often. The only thing he had going for him was a nice disposal.

Put Cripps mentality into Kane Lucas however...

He could kick like a mile.
He was fast as a gazelle.
Had a good attack on the ball when he decided he'd want to.
Closing speed was A-Grade and would get to defending contests most others couldn't, for his speed and reach.

He had plenty of quality attributes but just didn't commit to what he had to do.
He came back to the club with the biggest skin-folds..........twice. Can you believe that? :)
