that is my whole point and why there are more contested numbers than ever beforeI think you're underselling the importance of contested footy. There is more contested footy these days which will be reflected in more contested stats. By the same token, more contested footy means you need players that are good at it.
I understand what you're saying about what a player does with it is more important than simply winning contested possesion, but the two aren't mutually exclusive. The best players do both well.
It's also much more difficult to get effective disposals away in packs. Compare Cripps and Fyfes DE - both 69.2%
True, it doesn't make contested footy any easier tho.that is my whole point and why there are more contested numbers than ever before
didn't say it was easier, just making the point that there is more contested footy to getTrue, it doesn't make contested footy any easier tho.

Just saw who is on the selection panel for the Rising Star Award. Darcy, Tredrea, Richardson, Frawley, Jakovich. Crippsy got no hope.

if Cripps doesn't win it, it is rigged, Hogan went quiet in the second half of the season

Regardless of the outcome of the Rising Star award, what we do know is that Cripps will be a much better, more influential player across his career than Hogan will be & that's good enough for me.
Cripps to win Brownlow before Hogan wins ColemanRegardless of the outcome of the Rising Star award, what we do know is that Cripps will be a much better, more influential player across his career than Hogan will be & that's good enough for me.
Hogan will be competing with the likes of Boyd, McCartin & Patton to be the premier forward in the comp. Cripps has already demonstrated enough to suggest he will be at a Judd/Diesel Williams level within the next couple of years. He will have more damaging 30+ disposal games across his career than Hogan will kick bags of goals across his career.Do we? Hogan looks set to be the premier forward in the comp. I'd be very annoyed if Cripps loses to Hogan as he has had a better year in my opinion, but over their careers... nobody can predict the future. Both are shaping up to be in the top few players of the next decade.

He's the best young kid I've seen at our club in 46 years as a supporter & we've had some good ones. To be achieving the output he has in his first full season at the club (last year was ruined by his broken leg) goes beyond anything that has gone before him.so a dual Brownlow medalist
geez, no pressure Patty....
