I wonder why Geelong and Sydney are so successful in kicking out? Do they play a certain way? Or is it personnel? Just small sample size, not statistically significant?

They are just better at it than other teams. The fact they are positive isn't really that telling except for the fact that the mean is close enough to zero and variance sufficient to mean better teams can be positive. The mean is clearly below zero though which shows its easier to score from defending a kick in, than from taking a kick in - which makes sense because it is by far the smallest of the three basic sources (turnovers, stoppages, kick ins).
