If Robey equals Dusty + McLuggage that’s a tick to the recruiting staff imo

"Similar to" doesn't always mean "Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V" but more in terms of play style, influence. This goes for every single player. How you develop them/nurture them to achieve their highest potential matters as well.

Development-wise I'd say there's also a bit of Patrick Cripps in the sense that he was also a player that started off small, learned his ground ball game/forward craft as a small but didn't lose those abilities when he had a huge growth spurt.

He is supposed to have a lot power around the stoppages I think which is something we don't have a lot of other than Duz and to a degree Caldwell.

20 meter time at the combine was 3.1 so only average in that area but the scope is more power than speed.
You can make of this what you will.

Robey has mentioned in interviews that he'd never done any of the combine tests before (unlike others in the elite junior pathway who test each preseason) so he didn't really know what he was doing. He false started twice on the agility test, and had to play it safe on his last pass just to record a time.

The eye test to me suggests he's got a quick enough first step without being express pace, and his change of direction is rapid enough to weave past opponents, especially considering his powerful frame.

There's 'fast over 20m' in a test guys, and then there's 'fast over 20m' like a Dangerfield, Petracca or Stringer guys. There'd be faster guys over 20m than those, but those guys can do it through contact and with players trying to hold on to them.

Ideally Robey can become the latter type as a full-time midfielder. Stringers best was exceptional, but he simply couldn't be a full-time midfielder the way Dangerfield and Petracca have managed. If not, then a Stringer / De Goey who can do cameos through the middle and impact forward is still a good outcome.

It's easy to forget because the gap between Stringers best and worse was massive, but he had a block of games to end 2021 where he basically singlehandedly dragged us in to finals.

stringer with a professional work ethic (which sullivan has demonstrated) is a multiple AA level player.
