Driving only becomes dangerous when your ambition exceeds you skill. The main problem people is identifying their skill level accurately.

is it a law or just one of those unwritten one's?

that a parked car on your side of the road in your lane.you must/should stop give way if a car driving in the other towards you?

Not sure if trolling. I will indulge anyway.

It is law.

So if the consideration of others is such a big factor in the policing of the road traffic act, why can I lose my license and bike by speeding on a straight road in the middle of nowhere, with nobody but a cop hiding in the bushes?

Or one of any other examples, of these ridiculous "hoon laws" that are "protecting the community".

Speeding CAN be dangerous for a poorly skilled driver or an unroadworthy car.

Pinging people for speeding is largely revenue raising disguised as "saving lives". Dont forget, the police force is a business too.

Its bullshit. We are still a penal colony.

Work in the insurance industry and check out the figures about car accidents, take out the alcohol & drug related accidents and you are pretty much left with speeding.

I have no sympathy for your position, in fact if it was up to me people with your attitude would never get a driver's license.

Have you published the results of your research yet?

Research is not necessary when you can read between the lines and have the capability to use common sense. Most formulate reference and come to conclusion that generally adding 10kmp/h would mend many problems.

Why is the extra 10kmp/h so significant? There is no indisputable reason. Would be foolish to assume people would not continue speeding.

I was pulled over on the weekend for doing 114 in an 80 zone which I thought was a 110 zone. I obviously missed the 80 sign, but I won't make any excuses.

This was in kakadu. My question is, that while this offence in the NT only carries a fine and 4 points, in Victoria the fine is significantly higher and a one month suspension.

While the cop didn't mention anything about being punished in Victoria I'm still concerned that vic roads can suspend my license.

This concerns me because after 10 years I had a perfect record I'm about to apply for a position in the police. A suspension would rule me out.

It ruined a perfect little trip up north but at the same time I'll admit I was in the wrong. Just hope one honest mistake won't **** up my life.

Hardly surprising when the speed limit caters to the lowest common denominator and was set by someone who in all likelihood has never driven down that road.

I for one generally find the legal limit at which an 80yo can drive a 3t truck with drum brakes a tad leisurely.

Sorry, but you are a heinous criminal who's atrocities rank up there with rapists and murderers.

And i would consider the people with your attitude are the ones who continually make Victoria a "Nanny State"

Nice rant, but I live in SA.

If you want to be a "hoon" driver I'm hoping you'll be caught and your car crushed, before you kill yourself, or more importantly, before you kill someone else.

Works for me.

I'm no Hoon believe me, but here in victoria it's getting ridiculous. Honestly Jeremy Clarkson in his Forza 4 ad summed up the whole situation perfectly.
