If she is being treated like the mother of a victim I think they would be keeping her informed. So the fact that she did not find out until it was on TV is telling, don't you think?
Pretty sure the news about the weapon involved was released before KM spoke with police. At that stage the police, like a lot of us, suspected she was involved and therefore were not keeping her informed.

You can tell the media (via the police I imagine) are changing their tune, they're no longer intimating she's involved. In fact they're releasing info that points towards her innocence.

She is not involved, but why on earth did she let her daughter stay with a bloke who was in jail for 4 years and is apparently still with a heroin problem.

Agree. Its hard to understand what exactly happened and why, but we wont know until the Police release all the details. We must also keep in mind JS and KM led a certain 'lifestyle' whereby they may have had a different understanding of what is appropriate and what is not.

That's the question, isn't it. What was she herself doing on her own? Not suggesting anything untoward but maybe she's just unused to being a parent...

It's difficult to comprehend but KM's also pregnant with Charlise's half brother or sister. It may never have crossed her mind that he wouldn't be safe. People can and do turn their lives around after trouble with the law and prison, it's not impossible.

Absolutely. You definitely would like to think you could trust the father of your unborn child with with your other child, regardless of their past. Unless of course there were acts against other children or violence involved. I'm just making the point that as CM had been with her grandmother for some considerable time and the fact that KM had been in jail and had substance abuse issues, her parenting skills may not have been quite the same as a parent who had not had these issues.

Someone presenting themselves as a friend of Justin's mother Annemie Stein, posted that Justin used heroin on facebook. Then an amateur podcaster did an interview with the person whose house Justin was in when he was arrested and the podcaster repeated it.

The podcaster said something along the lines of 'Kallista likes her ice and Justin likes his heroin'.

It was a bit tacky.

Charlise Mutten's biological father has had some controversy over his fundraiser.

Radio silence on this case hey.

There hasn't been much going on while prosecutors prepare the brief. Stein hasn't spoken to the police and hasn't entered his plea yet, he might on Friday so that might even make headlines. This far without him making any statements that we're aware of, I think it might indicate he intends to fight the charges and push it to trial.

Investigators haven't found the gun yet faik, that will go to his favour if he decided to frame it as some sort of accident. A stray shot that he had no idea where it came from and he panicked?

Today's court appearance will be interesting in regards to him as yet to put in a plea of guilty or not guilty meaning he could apply for bail - not that it will be granted but who knows, his mother certainly has the resources for a large bail payment.

The stepfather accused of murdering nine-year-old Charlise Mutten and dumping her body in a barrel on a river bank in western Sydney in January was on parole for drug supply when he allegedly killed her.

Justin Stein was briefly mentioned in Penrith Local Court on Friday morning where he was remanded in custody until May for the murder of Charlise, and a sepatate charge of breaching parole.

Defence solicitor Peter Katsoolis told the court the alleged parole breach related to a drug charge from 2016.

Stein did not appear on screen from Silverwater prison, where he is believed to have been held since his arrest in January.

Magistrate David O'Neil adjourned the murder charge until May 20. Justin Stein accused murderer Charlise Mutten faces new charge

They haven't found it yet.

The alleged killer of nine-year-old Charlise Mutten will remain behind bars for at least another nine weeks after a brief court appearance on Friday, as investigators continue to search for the alleged murder weapon.

No idea why it's presumed the gun is on the property at Wildenstein?

Forensic testing shows that Charlise, who lived with her grandmother in Tweed Heads, was most likely shot with a small-calibre firearm. Police have yet to locate the weapon on the lavish grounds of Wildenstein, his family’s estate.

We could probably presume that someone saw her at Wildenstein? So the Police are thinking that is where she was killed and that the rifle was disposed of on that property.

Looks like this thread could be in for the long haul.

'March 18, 2022 — 10.56am
Justin Stein plans to plead not guilty to murdering Charlise Mutten, his lawyer says, as police continue to hunt for the alleged murder weapon.'

'Mr Stein will be defending the charges, his lawyer said outside court.
“It’s very early days; there’s still no clear motive,” Peter Katsoolis said.'
