A Big Forward?

Last night couldn't help but notice, no Mooney, and no Hawkins.

Using the ball less, trying to go long, but no power forwards, could spell our doom come finals time.

I noticed Stokes trying to fly against big Essendon defenders and Pods isolated most of the time.

IMO, we desparately need a fired up Hawkins, a la Pat Ryder, Mitch Brown just isn't physically up to a key post task, while we have this 105kg giant running around in the reserves.
Thought we could have tried Lonergan up forward, but no.

Pods had Hurley for company last night. Hurley is a quality KPP.

But I think ideally we should play 2 tall forwards not 1. Too much expected of a 5 game player in Vardy to cover ruck and key forward.

Agree. Hopefully the Carey tuition bears some fruit and Hawkins will become our MVP, which is how I rate him if he gets it together. Mooney sounds about ready to have an impact with the main team again.

Its all good gents, gives us some hard points to work on!!

Just hands all the pressure back to the Pies, they can have the number 1 mantle - then we can spring an 09 on them!!

Teams work in training blocks. Sometimes its heavy training and the following couple of weeks the players look lethargic. Pods misses, and Wojo getting caught by Ryder suggested to me that the whole team was lacking and I wondered if they are coming off some heavy training.

This is not an excuse, just an observation.
