You will have to do it for like 15 minutes just before you go on stage.

Rub underneath the eye, with a knuckle or something just brushing against your eyelids.

After a while the whole socket will be red.

Seriously most old theatre people use a tiny bit on onion rubbed on the eye.This is best if you want to look like you are crying as well!

Don't worry about it at all.

Even in a smallish school theatre, the people in the front row (at best) will be the only people who have a chance of noticing that you've gone through the trouble to artificially redden your eyes. What about everyone else?

If the dialogue, the scene situation and they way you portray the character doesn't indicate that you are stoned, then it has been written poorly and red eyes won't help one way or the other.

My suggestion: wear sunglasses. If the scene is set inside, you act stoned & say 'stoned things' people will get the idea.

If you are simply determined to be Brando and method this out, get some snuff chewing tobacco and put a couple of grains in the tear ducts of each eye. You will be in hell for about 5 minutes, but I guarantee the red eyes.

Glad to help, but I have a question. Why are you ****ting it up in a play when you should be outside playing some sport? There's a hot chick in the acting class whom you're after, isn't there?

Sorry champ, but you're lying.

You're not very appreciative of some good advice. I educated you on two things:

1) Smack does not give people red eyes

and more importantly,

2) If you aren't 100% sure, then don't say it.

I think that second point is some pretty good advice. People who say stuff that they don't know about usually get caught out. If you don't want to take the advice, then that will be to your detriment. You should be thankful that you have been pulled up on a anonymous forum, rather than in real life.

One more thing, Leaping Liar, I know people who are social workers and work with a variety of people including drug addicts and prison inmates. I don't have the heart to tell them that they are a little bit in the dark. I am telling you because I don't care if you take it the wrong way.

Let me ask you, do you think these people are going to tell the truth to a social worker, or do you think it is more likely that they tell the truth to people who are closer to them (I don't mean family, I mean people who may be in the same boat such as fellow drug addicts and fellow inmates). Junkies are reknown liars, so what makes social workers think that they get the correst info?

Just for the record, I have never used smack and never will. I have been around enough of them (as a confidant rather than opposition such as family or social worker) to know exactly what I am talking about. I don't think there is one occasion that I have been caught out passing untruths as fact on this board.

When people take smack, their eyes DO NOT go red. Their eyes become 'pinned'. This is hard to explain, but once you see it enough times, you can almost recognise it anywhere. It is more noticeable in people who have fair skin and blue eyes (as is red eyes from smoking pot). It is much harder to recognise with people who have a darker complexion, particulalry asians.

But if they are taking other garbage with it, then wouldn't it be the other garbage that makes the eyes go red rather than the smack? This is probably where people are getting confused - junkies are often pot smokers as well.

Pot makes your eyes go red, it doesn't pinpoint your pupils like smack does.
