The African seccy video garnered more attention than the video you posted because it's your classic villain/hero/victim scenario and the one you posted has neither. on top of that it's barely audible.

The racist in the first video is instantly unlikeable; aggressive, young, arrogant, punchable face with a pathetic mo and extremely vitriolic. He held up the entire train, and his mate, who was giggling like a flirtatious school girl the whole time, filmed it and put it up on Facebook for shits and giggles.

The security guard played both the victim and the hero, showing the patience and restraint of the Dalai Lama by passively taking the abuse and even moving to put himself between the racist and other passengers to protect them.

Abbott commented on this particular video because his advisors probably thought it was great timing and saying something would probably be beneficial (to him) in light of recent events.

The video you posted is a completely different scenario. "Two idiots get into inane argument on a train and throw moderately racist insults at each other" would be a more accurate title.

We have a drunk and agitated aboriginal couple trading insults with a white guy who is laughing and mocking them. I'm not sure who the victim is here? No one, in my opinion.

From what I can make out the video starts in the middle of the argument with the aboriginal guy saying something like "you killed and r*ped our women, you dogs... I'm proud of my heritage... You white people got no culture".

White guy replies: 'We shouldn't be proud of raping your women... Why would we rape your women? Look at them. No offence."

(Inaudible rambling for a few minutes)

Aboriginal guy: "Have you ever lived with aboriginals... Have you ever lived in our culture?"

White guy: " Nah, I'm better than you."

And so on, and so on.

Doesn't seem to support your hypothesis very well. It's really just two idiots arguing. What about posting a more extreme example of what you're talking about.

We grow up seeing this sort of thing from birth.

Bottom line, it's this sort of behaviour that is the reason why the community has such difficulty embracing Aboriginals.....not there skin colour.

But looking broad picture, you must struggle if you think the 2 acts are of the same importance.

One act is symbolic of the last half milennia of colonialism and racism that we are still hoping to get rid of. The other is not.

I'm not sure what's going on in this video. Going by the content and ignoring the title it looks like a street brawl. Have you got a news article?

People on the forum can't try to skirt round the issue but their has been serious and numerous incidents of disgraceful incidents of aboriginals being totally feral. You can wash it under the table all you want but it happens continually and it does put off people having any sympathy for them and yawn when another of their problems arise.

It highlights the cowardly, predatory, violent pack mentality of young Nyoongar youth in metropolitan perth.

If that's 'hanging shit' on them, then that's what it is.

Where do they learn that hate (white dog!!! White dog!!!! White dog!!! Etc), that willingness to casually dish out violence to random people on the street?

White kids are out there causing there share of shit too, don't you worry about that, but that video gave a really good snapshot to outsiders of what West Aussies talk about when they talk about the sorts of casual violence and aggressive anti social behaviour they experience from the Nyoongar community on a daily basis.

Honestly unless you have lived in Perth for an extended period, you just don't realise what it's really like.

It's a unique situation and environment, with a cycle of inter generational hate that just seems to roll on and on.

That's not too diminish or cast aspersions of the causative factors which have led us to where we are....but at this point, the search for answers and solutions is of far more interest to me than continuing to dwell in the past.

Which is the real purpose of this thread.

We should be as outraged at an Aboriginal racially abusing someone on a train or in the community, as we are a white person.

The longer we make excuses and make apologies, the longer we allow a double standard, the longer it will take to have a truly 'equal' society.

It was Geraldton where that incident occurred actually, but that's another issue again.

I don't label all aboriginals either but i do hold to account the numerous incidents that involve young aboriginals who seem to take delight in causing mayhem as they go about their business with people who have never bothered them in the slightest way. People on the forum would make out it doesn't go on at all, but single out a silly 17yo who verbally abused a guard on a train as an incident so appalling it shows all white people as beyond the pale.
