Following on from the drinkers guide to Melbourne thread, I thought I would start one up for Adelaide.

CBD favs:
Harry's Bar on grenfell at. Cheap jugs, plenty of room.
The Franklin Hotel on Franklin street - love the hotdog and can special. $10 long necks
Coopers Alehouse - epic Schnitzels. Decent beer specials.
German Club Flinders Street - German beer and wurst. Looks like a 1970s ski chalet. Never manage to walk out of their sober.

Oh cheers mate! Look out Adelaide. :D

Going to go and probably check out Roo's pub too

I suspect you will need a place to celebrate after the game!
Haha hopefully!

Heading to the Arkabra Hotel after the game to watch Arsenal in the FA Cup final, but need a good watering hole on Friday night!

The Alma's not right in the CBD so would require a taxi out there. Bit nightclubby as well IIRC but it's been years since I was there.

Highlighting my recommended from above:
Mother Vine, 22-26 Vardon Ave - Classy wine bar type, not for a pissup but very nice.
Barbushka, 14 Peel St - cocktails are the go here.
Hains + Co, 23 Gilbert Place - good beer selection but very small
Bank Street Social, 27 Bank St - overall great but popular and can get expensive.
Turi Café & Bar, Tenancy 3, 25 Grenfell St - On a Friday, they have good drink specials.

Absolutely disgraced themselves on the night/morning of the World Cup final with their lack of TV screens.

The OG Hotel. Best happy hours. 4pm till 7pm Mon-fri $4 pints, anything on tap Sundays too.

Beer really, wouldn't mind trying out some local craft beers if they're available relatively easily?
The Franklin Hotel and The Benjamin Franklin (both on Franklin Street), both have a good selection of craft beer

I recommend trying the Pirate Life Double IPA at the Benjamin Franklin - the stuff is 8.8% and knocks your socks off.

All the places on Peel / Leigh are full of local craft beer / wine.

Arkaba is round the corner from me, and it's a f***ing dive. There will be literally hundreds of better places to watch the game in Adelaide.

Only reason I'm going there is because the Arsenal Australia Adelaide fan club is based there, they're expecting 400-500 people watching it so should be a good atmosphere!

Except the Royal Oak.

Used to drink a bit at the Royal Oak about 15 years ago as I had a mate who lived around the corner. Was during Derryn Hinch's heavy alcoholism phase and he was there every night.

For the guy looking for the a good craft beer place, the Wheatsheaf in Thebarton is pretty good for that. Just out of the city, even walkable from Hindley Street, has a bit of an eclectic/grungy and slight Lesbian vibe, but has an awesome selection of craft beers and malt whiskies if your into that sort of thing.
