With both Aaron James & Nathan Saunders having their names removed from the famous blue lockers at the Western Oval, we now have quite a conundrum.

Bulldog fans favourite White Stripes fan, Rocco "Poll King" Jones (no, that's not a reference to his after hours activities) is without a hero.

Now, as we know, there are hero's, if you look within your soul, but for Rocco Jones there is not. He is a lost man, with no direction. No one to guide him through the football season, to give him hope, to let him down slowly. No one to look up to when all is lost. No one to play virtua tennis with at Highpoint.

I can't let me friend and fellow Bulldog supporter live like this. So I have taken it upon myself to find Rocco Jones "A Dud To Look Up To"

On this thread, I will take suggestions about who that dud could be. There's only one guideline, that is, they have to be on the Bulldog list. Also, in accordance to ADTLUT rule 1.2.1, anyone suggesting Paul Dimattina will be banned from all future involvement.

Once I have the best suggestions, I will post a poll, and finally, Rocco Jones will be complete once more.

I've never classed Simon Garlick as a dud, especially not in the mold of our other "super duds"

Oh well never mind, the idea behind it was good. :)

Pat Bowden is your man.

Garlo certainly qualifies in a lot of categories to be Rocco's new fave dud, but he is just not quite THAT bad.

Bowden doesn't deserve it! You need a dud that tries NOT to be a dud, its more humorous watching their footballing foibles that way. Bowden, from the past few efforts I have seen him in, should never be mentioned alongside The Ugg Boot, Nudie or Azza

I understand your sentiments, but if Pi sser James qualifies as someone that tried, than i figure anybody that actually finds their way to WO at least once a month for training also qualifies.

stefoid i think that he should get a few good games under his belt at least at weribee whether its at chf or in the backline to get his confidence up so when he comes then when he comes into our senior side to actually give him time on the ground. Was he that bad against collingwood.

So in other words you want him to do something he hasn't been able to do in the last two years?

Well its abit hard for him to have have confidence when you are put on for abit then put straight back on the bench.
If he was performing for the Bee's i would say you had a valid call from for him to be in the ones, but the sad fact is, he doesn't perform consistantly enough. One week he'll play a blinder, the next he'll hardly be sighted.

I think Bowden's problem is he is showing no more signs of being able to make it than he was 2 years ago. If there has been improvement in his game in that time i am yet to notice it.

His other big problem is a lack of physical tools. He is slow, whilst not being big enough to be a geniune target man up forward. This means guys like Wiggins and Skipper bypass him automatically because they are bigger and more athletic. Whilst guys like Harris and Harrison get ahead of him because they are much better at doing the bullocking work.

Pat has a touch of class and is more skilful than the guys he is competing for spots with, and i have not given up hope that he can force himself into the side as a regular, however he seems to simply lack the physical capabilities neccassary to carve out a niche in the side for himself.
