First off, for Melbourne to go down by only 20 points playing the way they did I think is not to bad a result. They were shocking. Flat and dull. Totally different to the last two weeks which made it amazing to think that we were in front a 3/4 time.
The umpiring was awful. That 1st quarter I lost my cool and I never do that. Neitz got nothing, Ottens got anything. Touch him and you get a free. It wasn't just Ottens but other Richmond players that got a good go. And remember the one in the last quarter, It was as though Hall was trying out for the 100 metres at the Olympics, and he ended up with a bloody free kick. The main culprit was Sheehan. He is past it.
To the side, Robbo OUT, Woey OUT, Broadbridge OUT.
White needs help so Jolly IN, Ellis IN, Ward IN.
White was spent. That kick out and handball that resulted in a Richmond goal in the last quarter was evidence of that. That was the start of the end for Melbourne.
Johnstone injured again. How long can we put up with this? Schwarz was out of sorts. We really needed him. I was impressed with Vardy. His goals were very impressive. Who needs Jeff Farmer? Vardy can be our new Wiz! I thought Bizzell was OK and Wheatley was also good. Yze got the ball but his usual class was not there.
Anyway with a few matches left today,we are still 4th and you have to be happy with that. We can win our next 2 mathces (West Coast & Bulldogs) so we can be 4 and 1. Not bad at all.

One final thing, how hypocritical are those Richmond supporters? They have the nerve to all get up and wave as quite a few of the Melbourne Members left the ground. I'd love to ask how many of them left by half time when they got thumped by Essendon. Its not the same with Melbourne supportes not in the red seats and Melbourne coming out of the Southern Stand rooms.
I don't think Richmond will be Top 4, Melbourne certainly won't be, but Richmond were not impressive yesterday.

What crap

If Richo and Gaspar had of played, you guys would of been flogged by 8 goals.
Typical Dees supporter, blame it on the umpires, blame it on the board.
Why dont you blame your players who clearly cracked under sustained pressure when the game was their to be won!

diggler, f*ck off. You have nothing constructive to say and instead do nothing but abuse and use typical d*ckhead tactics.

If Richo and Gaspar had played eh? Well if Jolly, Ellis, Ward and Thompson had played, and we had dropped some poor performers in Robbo, Woe, Broady and Wheatley then the contest would have been closer.

Who where Richmond blaming last week?? Lets see how they perform against the likes of Brisbane, Hawthorn, Port, Adelaide and Essendon...

Totally agree.

Umpires a factor, but the main problem was absolutely disgraceful skill errors.

Agree there, but Ward maybe too underdone, so either Williams, Funcke or Febey for mine

As soon as I saw that mistake I knew we where gone, not that we should have ever been in it.

Pity about Johno, lets hope it's not too serious. Schwarz has been struggling of late, could be largely due to injury. Vardy is looking the goods, Biz and Yze where both good. Not so sure about Wheatley I thought he struggled again, given the 2 goals he got and didn't do much else.

Anyway with a few matches left today,we are still 4th and you have to be happy with that. We can win our next 2 mathces (West Coast & Bulldogs) so we can be 4 and 1. Not bad at all.
Definately look forward, the draw isn't so bad over the next couple of weeks, and we should look to consolidate our place in the 8.

I stay till the end, it avoids that, I'll admit to doing it to other teams, so I have no major complaints on the matter.

I don't think Richmond will be Top 4, Melbourne certainly won't be, but Richmond were not impressive yesterday.
My tip is for both Melbourne and Richmond to finish between 5-10, time will tell.

Well said Dees 01.

We could've gotten belted today but Richmond's poor goal kicking (credit our defence for keeping the pressure on though) let us off.

Credit to Richmond though they made us work so hard for our goals in the first half & the last quarter. Once they got back in front in the last quarter they always looked safe, dropping the big blokes back to stop most of our momentum. We were too slow to wake up to their tactics & paid for it.

Whitey needs Jolly to back him up he's having a go but it's too much work for one bloke as good as he is. I'm watching the replay at the moment & it looks like Johnno's injury was a re-occurence of last weeks injury, which begs the question why was he risked?

Too many passengers on Saturday :(.

I did not say the umpires cost us the game, but their performance was not up to scratch. If you you thought you deserved those marks/free kicks that were given, then you have problems.
If you had read what I said I did blame our players for the bad performance.

Well I went to watch Sandy play today and most of the guys were there and they all seemed to be in a pretty good mood. No one mentioned dropping no one and the way Ellis played today it could be a while before he gets back into the game because he was disgraceful. Tommo was pretty good today as was Wardy so hopefully those two will be brought back in.
Anyhow the umpiring was shocking but thats not why we lost, we lost because as you said we were flat and we ran out of steam mentally and physically. The game was up for grabs at 3/4 time and we weren't nearly as hungry as we were the last two weeks and thats a shame.
I think that we can certainly win the next couple of games granted that we remain focused and that we really pick up the pace and regain that toughness again.

Well on Demon Radio they said he was our best player! One thinks personal views have got in the way there. Hope Ward and Thommo can be back soon.

Yeah I agree.
Adam and Dees01, I have nothing against Ellis, I think he could defenetly benefit our team but I honestly didn't think he was any good on Sunday because players like Williams and Tommo did much better in my opinion.
