I like what you've done mate, good thought process. I really want to hold onto pick 36 though but if we got pick 12, Watts and Polak I would part ways with it. These all sound quite possible. We would then have picks 1, 4, 12 and 20. Not bad!

It's obviously easy to come up with trades that would benefit Carlton. It's a hell of a lot more difficult coming up with trades that'll please other clubs.

I'm a bit iffy on whether Adealide would take Yze and Sporn for Watts. I think it's a fair swap but I guess it depends on how much confidence Adelaide has in Scott Welsh and Ken McGregor as KPP's.

My thought process on the Kangaroos one was they've probably got to get a goal kicking small forward with the possible loss of Shannon Grant and Daniel Motlop. Matthew Lappin could easily fill that role. Disposal in their midfield is iffy and that's where Houlihan will help. Lastly going from pick 29 to 36 isn't that different, so as I see it, they're pretty much giving up pick 13 for Houlihan and Lappin.

I'd take the 1st and 3rd trade. The second one however, looks out of our favour. Polak had been dissapointing thus far, and will probably be an average player at best...

Polak and Fevola have the same manager. He organised a get together for his clients and Fevola and Polak had a 'few problems with it'. This resulted in Fevola punching Polak a number of times and vice versa. Polak will NOT be joining Carlton while Fevola is here.

Fergus Watts is slow. Saw him play in the SANFL on tv and have been told the same thing. Was slow before getting drafted even though he worked hard on it in the TAC. The SANFL standard is very low and if anybody remember a former AFL player in Daniel Schell they would know what I mean. He regularly dominates games in the SANFL and kicks bags and he was usless at AFL level..
Watts is not really a ruckman and is not quick/agile enough for KPP. I would liken him to a Drew Petrie but without the bulk. In between size.

I would be happy to have Watts at Carlton for free but not to actually trade something for him. He is not worth it.

North Melbourne wouldn't touch Ryan Houlihan with a 40-foot barge pole. Soft as melted butter... doesn't gel with their style of play whatsoever. He'd be scared of his own team-mates.... imagine Houlihan lining up alongside Archer!!!!

Archer is Houlihans manager.

To be honest though, they need less shinboners and more talent. Maybe they should consider a trade...

I Disagree. Everyone sh*tcans North for having not much talent.... I wish we had as much talent as them. They have some of the most skillful players in the comp.

S Grant
B Harvey
A Simpson
G Archer (Very highly skilled, not just a shinboner)
T Makepeace
D Wells

We've got a bunch of spuds that couldn't hit a target by foot if their life depended on it.

We cant trade Houlihan. He is on to much money for a start and after playing him in the reserves this year to 'change his ways' he has little trade value.
He had a really good year in 2003 and Melbourne had a huge go at him and Denis wanted him kept. So he was but on big money.
So he is in the Lance Whitnall category from last year. Huge contract hanging around his neck. Keep him see if he has decided to not ever do the 'Buddy Franklin incident' ever again.
Then have a look at things next year with him.

First rule of trading. Sell high. Gets you more. The other club feels they are much less of a risk and thinks they will improve even more.
Houlihan in 2003 would have got us a lot. Could have sold him high. Now would be selling low and get almost nothing.

Fevola would be selling low. KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
Whitnall would be selling high. So trade him.

Thurstans last year would be selling high. Never done anything in his career. Kicks a few goals in a dominant side and in the grand final and suddenly he could be anything. Garbage as usual. Hack who is 25 and going nowhere.

Interested to know Mojo... Would you take trade 1 with Luke Jericho or Brent Reilly instead of Watts?

I'm a bit of a mark for Jericho, I have to be honest. I like to have a guy who is around 190 and runs like the wind on the wing.

If they had wanted to trade Houla they'd have played him in the seniors to keep up his trade value.

Melbourne didn't actually offer us anything for him but offered him big money to entice him to nominate for the PSD so they could pick him up for nothing. I don't think it's in the same league as what Whitnall has been on though.

I would be interested in Reilly. Did not have a great year but is talented. A little soft but quick and good skills. Jericho? Nope. Makes to many mistakes. Not a mid and not a forward at his size.

2 players I would really want are Reilly and Hentschel. Trent has got serious talent to be able to take a very good mark up forward as well as to be able to play on Riewoldt in a final and shut him down.

If you are going to get serious Carlton then lets ask for something huge for Fevola.

Reilly + Hentshcel + first round pick. If no. Then drop the first rounder.

If no. Then keep him.
Fevola is only traded for quality and for me pick 7 is no way enough in this draft. Want 2 very good young players for him or a gun. Forwards even as wayward as Fev dont suddenly appear in the draft.
Polak, MacDouggall, Watts and a whole bunch of others taken in the first round have thus far done little to show they were worth it.
Just because of the hype over Roughead/Franklin does not mean players like that are there this year.

I like Trade 1 and 3, but I'd change number 2 to this.

TRADE 2

To Carlton
Shannon Grant

To Kangaroos
Matthew Lappin
Ryan Houlihan
Blue's Pick 36

To Fremantle
Kangaroo's Picks 13 and 29

Now I know Grant is like 29 or something, but he still has 6 years left in him. He would be vital to our forward line structure, which would look something like this (With Fevola not traded).

Betts Fevola Longmuir
Fisher Waite Grant

This trade is also a win for the Kangaroos as they pick up Lappin, who could be vital to their forward structure as a crumber, and Houlihan could be use to effect on the flanks.

And the Shockers have got the good of the bargain too, as they would get some great picks to help their list grow.

It's really nice of you to give Fremantle picks when they aren't giving up anything. :(

By getting Shannon Grant it completely losesthe purpose of trading Lappin. Grant will demand 3 years, have a larger contract and hell I'd rather have Lappin playing for us as we don't need another forward.
