Injury A fitting end

I really don't care about the possibility of getting spanked in another final. If we want to get anywhere we need to crave the contest, not fear it.

Having said that at least this result puts to bed any assertion that 2017 was just as good/better than 2014. It was clearly worse and all the flat track stat-padding in the world can't change that.

Hopefully this is acknowledged, at least internally, and the K-men kaizen the f@#k out of the entire operation.

On and up.

We've just pissed the primes of Schulz, Carlile, Monfries, Trengove, Boak, Gray, Westhoff, Hartlett, Ebert and Ryder down the drain.

And all we've got to show for it is, "at least we stopped losing to basement-Brisbane, Carlton and Freo".

The first 5 definitely, but we can still wring something out of the last 5. Maybe.

It's all about the yoof now and I think there's some hope there.

Let's be honest, if we scaped through we may have been set up for a 15+ goal smashing (loss) in either semi or prelim. We are no where near the best 4 teams. I am happy we stuck with playing youngsters. But we would have been throwing meat to the wolves. Thank #### this team cant disappoint me anymore in 2017....

Trengove would have at least been accountable for old man Petrie or wow is he still playing Vardy and allowed us proper flexibility in ruck with Ryder. Hoff had to roam to make up for the short backline, and Dixon was just way too valuable in attack.

As a forward no, but as a defender, there's a case to be made tonight.
SO TRUE - lets cut the bullshite about Marshall/Trengove.
Marshall did some good things, practically playing a flankers role.
Trengove could have been vital last night - actually the DIFFERencE - Ruck/forward/back
+ WHY not play both as Marshall wasn't playing as a tall forward!!
But oh no we pick Impey, he is fast....

27 hours of airports and planes, feeling pretty average.... then I checked the scores. Now I'm tired and depressed.

The score is the easy bit, believe me. Watching the actual game will send you over the edge.

Marshall technically had a career best game last night. Any expectation that he would offer anything more than what a L-plate key forward would ordinarily offer is misguided and why we needed to play Trengove.

The crowd last night were amazing, and the fact that their energy and passion couldn't inspire the guys to kick straight is disgusting.

If the club is wondering why we seem less engaged, this is it.

If the club is wondering why we aren't as excited as we were in 2014, this is it.

40,000 people bled black white and teal last night, but our players just doesn't give a shit.

KT, Koch, come out in the next few days and make people accountable for tarnishing port adelaides history.

Based on what? The last two blokes Trengove tried to play a defensive role on were Alex Rance and Jake Carlisle and they were both arguably BOG for their clubs on the night.

Trengove certainly wouldn't have offered the defensive pressure or the quick hands in scoring chains that Marshall gave us tonight.
Trengove should have been in, but to go down back and give Ryder a chop out. Both areas we struggled massively in. Wanted this before game, saw both as danger areas, as many of us did based on 2017, yet unsurprisingly these killed us during the game. When numpties in the stands can see what's going to happen before the game is even played, how is Ken still coach?

I just realised, last night was the first time I actually jumped out of my seat to cheer for a goal in just about 3 years. Ollie's goal in extra time... fuark me that was an insane moment as a Port supporter in that ground. Kudos to the 40,000 who showed up, the atmosphere was electric after half time.

The most Trengove would do is come in and play that defensive tagging role in the forward line.

We sacrifice a shit load offensively doing that.

Whether or not that puts us over the line is for debate. I am not a fan of it in general, a move like that is just masking the cracks that Trengove is a shit forward.

I do think Marshall would be up there in score involvements. The running and marking the ball backwards at full speed, starting some chain handballs, there was a possession where he was tackled onto the boundary and absolutely needed to thread a handball between 3-4 West Coast in that process and he nailed it.

He did a lot this game that Trengove would be unable to do as a forward.

Based on his season to date, the expectation that Trengove would offer more than an L-plate key forward is equally misguided.

Some of you blokes must be taking the piss. "If only we'd played a guy who has been a total failure up forward all year in the forward line, we definitely would've won'.

People have been pretty harsh on Marshall and McGovern. McGovern was a free man in the first. I'm not sure about the rest of the game but Marshall definitely had two defenders on him most of the night. To expect a first year kpf to beat two defenders of a team known for intercept marking is stupid.

The club gambled on our mosquito fleet winning us the game while marshall was meant to play decoy all night and it backfired on them brilliantly. They need to answer for it

It definitely should have been Trengove for a small , not Trengove for Marshall. Trengove instead of impey allows us to stop that 1st qtr momentum by swinging Trengove back. It would have allowed us not to concede 15 marks to McGovern if they had to cover both Marshall and Trengove forward rather than just McGovern zoning off all night long.

We also could have used Trengove in the ruck where Ryder was having a down game.
