Last week I to see a band called The Clip Clop Club. They play a "Rawhide" style country and western with a comic edge. Might have heard them on RRR or PBS. Best songs include "Kylie's Arse", "Hand in the haybale", "Ain't no 7/11 in Heaven" and the forever evolving "I moved in with Wayne Carey (and my missus moved in too)".

Final song of the night was my favourite, its a slower ballad type. Loved the references to EJ, Forges and Yarraville station. Lyrics are:

3 ibis are flying down the Maribyrnong
Cars on the Westgate will be home before long
In my backyard I am writing this song
As the sun sets over Footscray

The scallop fleets rusting down on the river
While at Sunshine Hospital they're about to deliver
A young girl's first child, her boyfriend is with her
As the sun sets over Footscray

CH: Footscray , oh Footscray, my factory town
Your streets are all dead ends or go round and round
Not a hard place to get to just hard to get out
I'll probably die here in Footscray

Sailors pass through by road and by rail
Forge's is holding its neverending sale
A housewife is out delivering junk mail
For some extra cash here in Footscray

Bill Miller is out for a beer with his mates
While at Yarraville Station they've closed the gates
For the last 15 minutes, now the traffic just waits
As the sun sets over Footscray

CH: Footscray, oh Footscray you're the pearl of the south
Its true cos I heard it from Ted Whitten's mouth
Not a hard place to get to just hard to get out
I'll probably die here in Footscray

A great song indeed - the Anthem for the Western Suburbs. There is one last verse:

The country has Cockies - Tooraks has Swells
They don't know Footscray's faces or the stories they tell
If I ever win Tatts I might move somewhere else
But I'll probably die here in Footscray
