Every year every club enters the draft with high hopes of a super haul - rarely does that happen. There’s always a bust or two, you just hope it’s not a high pick you’ve wasted - but there are also diamonds in the rough and outright champions taken further down after every club (including your own) has passed over a player (just remember Tom Brady was pick 199 in his draft year).
So here is a list of players we’ve taken at the draft and the positions they were taken at and some tick and crosses to indicate whether I think it was a good pick baring in mind a number of things…
1. time and hindsight will change the rating.
2. some busts are nobody’s fault (injuries rather than potatoness).
3. the bust of a player taken late or rookie is less than the bust of a top 10 pick.
4. the tick of a player taken late or rookie is bigger than a tick of a top 10 pick.
5. I’m happy to change a rating based on discussion
6. there is no consideration of players/picks we gave up to get the pick use, that’s for the discussion, this is just based on the player selected
7. I will change the rating based on hindsight
