Pears? He showed good pre-season form and his body is already big enough for senior footy.
He is 190cm and still growing. He wouldnt fit the mold. Slattery is our best option IMO. He isnt a natural ball winner, so it is useless using him in the midfield. He is a handy stopper however, so why not leave him on the oppositions best small forward. It wouldnt be such a bad idea trying him against Josh Hill this week, or even Aker. You just never know, we could be surprised.

From reports Slattery was ordinary for Bendigo, let him earn his spot

Would love to see Pears get some game time to fast track his career, maybe this would be a good game to bring him in on Mitch Hahn, so he can get some experience but not be too expensive if he cant win the contest.
From memory when he played on BJ in the NAB Cup he put on some nice spoils and kept with him on the lead. I dont think hell get a run though this week

Nash is 189cm, although Pears may still be growing, wouldn't hurt to blood him deep in defence.

I think you misunderstood me. The still growing comment wasnt meant to mean that we shouldnt play him. I was getting at since he is still growing and is already 190cm that he will not be a small defender.

Hmm, I see, so as long as he doesn't grow between now and the game against the Doggies we'll be right! :D:D:D

Well, it's bed time for me I'm stuffed, I bid you adieu!

A good win but...

Mcfee is a liability across half forward
Stanton is far from the elite midfielder that Knights has proclaimed him to be.
Our midfield was smashed at stopages for the second week in a row
Our defence was a shambles
Mal Michael may be close to playing his last game
We only just beat a side who has lost 14 straight.

Mal had Fev covered for two quarters.
He kicked a lucky goal on him (his first) when the ball fell in his hands and kicked one other for the half.

He then played the quarter of his life when Carlton were dominating play.

One bad quarter, which was only made by Carlton's dominance doesn't spell the end for what has otherwise been a pretty good start to the season

you dispute the stat? lol

The stat he asked for. Very funny!

Hille only played 74% of the game and it was the first game this season Essendon had won the hitouts (statistically speaking), an indictment on Hille perhaps?

And for all of you who are wondering... yes, Essendon didn't win the ruck hitouts (statistically speaking) against the Kangaroos. Why's that you say? Because when the team's winning most people don't take notice of the weaknesses, it's human nature!

I get it, the stats only matter when they support your argument.

When they detract from it, they're incorrect.

Good stuff.

Another thing, what good is winning 17 hitouts, with 29% of them ging to advantage, when you get smashed at the stoppages? The Dons winning the game had absolutely nothing to do with either Hille, or to a lesser extent Laycock, who I thought was very serviceable.

Didn't Ch10 give Hille best on?

Credibility?

As for the stats, I didn't want to use the stats to start with but it seems most BF users use them as gospel. Stuff the stats, I watch the game and call it as I see it. Everyone but Essendon supporters knows that Hille is a shite tap ruckman but those that don't use BF also realise that BF users jump all over someone if one of their only players is taken to the cleaners by another BF user. I take the criticisms of me with a grain of salt!

Credibility?

None, which is probably slightly above yours.

Who is the best tap ruckman in the league?
How many good ones are there?
Do ruckmen even play that way anymore?

David Hille has been the best ruckman on the ground in two of his three games so far and was marginally behind Blake in the other. That's a good return for a guy who's being asked to ruck and play FF.
