Huge for the potential outcomes. Are Brisbane contenders or pretenders? Have the wheels come off for Melbourne. Are Richmond back or are the Cats better than I thought. Carlton making up the numbers, or a genuine finals team, can Fremantle continue getting it done to shape as a potential top 2 candidate. The Dogs season on the line, ditto the saints, swans, GWS. Can the pies surprise everyone and end up in the 8.

Has there ever been a round at this point in the season where all the top 8 sides have played each other in the same round?

Also, has there ever been a better single day of matches than this in the H&A:

Saturday's 3 games are all basically "finals"

5th vs 3rd (9-4 vs 10-3)
4th vs 6th (9-4 vs 8-5)
7th vs 8th (8-5 vs 8-5)

Even the games outside the 8 are perfectly matched and have big implications,
12th vs 11th (6-7 vs 7-6)

And then Dogs / Hawks and Giants/Pies are also good clashes too.

I saw a post on the AFLs social media page which stated this has only occurred 4 times previously;

Round 11, 1995
Round 21, 1998
Round 7, 2008
Round 17, 2012

Can’t wait for the footy to begin!

Keen as on Freo v Carlton! Dogs v Hawks and Saints v Swans will be good too I think.

Obviously interested in Dees v Lions, both teams have some outs but our form has been terrible regardless so it would be a huge effort to win.

I reckon the Roos have another win in them this season, could be this week.

Gonna be a fun round!

It does look like lots of games where they should be competitive, hopefully it's not shitful.

Except for the eagles game, hopefully they get ****ed.

Lions vs Dees will be boring you guys are gonna get thumped. Hopefully you guys do a Grundy type deal with Jackson after he gets mauled by Mcinerny. Dud in the making.

If you are going to try and derail a nice thread by trolling, at least be funny. Do better.

Well, Dees have hit back hard, with their own version of shock and awe, from q2, after commentatoes and others in q1 were lamenting the passing of their brief dynasty.
I've started turning the telly volume down, like I do with boxing, to not be influenced by stupid commentatory. Even though the old battleaxe has a voice like a router machine, it is still far more pleasant than Jobe and Joblettes. I even started getting a bit sparkly during q3.

I note that Dees still have some work to do...a bit scary. For one, Petracca's 2 from 16 set shot and 9 from 20 all shots percentage is pretty poor. For another, the i50 efficiency is still lower than what they want.

It augurs poorly for other teams hoping the Dees had dropped off permanently.

Couldn't be further away from what actually unfolded

Well we know lions are pretenders now, not really a big scalp. I was also right it was going to be boring I guess.

And then the backtrack
