I thought Johnson should of been the 98 Norm Smith winner too. But he played as a reciever that GF and it probably counted against him, Hart probably also deserved it but it's not an award that usually goes to defenders just because they shut down a dangerous forward and DJ was also stiff not to win in 97.

We are so much harder on Macca because we expect so much more from him.

With Clarke we were always just happy for him to get the taps because we had so many more quality players than we have now, the fact that he cant kick or mark really does stand out alot more. I hope Meeson and Maric don't take too may tips from him.

And so we should expect a lot more from him based on his pay packet.

My original point was that he has not performed well for the last couple of seasons. Granted he may not have liked the coach etc, but he needs to loose the disinterested side of his game. I saw it last year here in Perth against Freo, and hoped he would be fired up this season, but only time will tell.

Frightening, but I agree, to an extent.

Receiver is not correct, but he is a player who likes to run onto the ball. He is certainly at his best when the ball is heading in the direction of our goal and he can run onto it.

When our rucks are soundly thrashed, and he cops a heavy tag from a quality player he will struggle (ie. Sunday).

McLeod has struggled in the past with taggers and part of the problem is that players around him & who should be aware he is being tagged, either put themselves between him and the tagger or knock the tagger off balance at stoppages to assist him in shaking the tag. It isn't rocket science but something we have rarely seen at the Crows.

I am amazed that McLeod can cop such criticism on this board compared to, for example, Clarke, who was absolutely pathetic on the weekend.

I know that many here are not fans of Biglands, but we could have really used him last weekend.

i agree a lack of physicality in general with the 'non-aggression' pack they seem to be following, hasnt helped macca shake the taggers.

i still think he is a little bit of a receiver, he requires a bickley type to knock it out, but the main problem as you highlighted, was that we would often run onto the ball with his explosive speed, which has lost its edge.

Clarke at least gives the impression he tries, and had injury concerns too, sometimes macca looks uninterested, which is probably not the case, just his body language
