The other available target on FFA’s six-player marquee shortlist, Keisuke Honda, also appears to be at long odds of playing in the A-League.

The Japanese midfielder, who retired from international football after the Samurai Blue were eliminated from the World Cup, is after a one-year contract worth $US5m ($A6.7m) on top of other benefits including accommodation, flights and a car.

You'd hope the FFA provide or offered a lexus.

Thats a decent list.

Would love him in red mind you

Hyundai i3o is what I'm led to believe they have offered.

Jesus Christ. Would Peter Crouch encourage one single extra person to attend or watch an A-League game?

If I wasn't already an A-League supporter I would watch solely for the purpose of seeing him do the robot.

Roy O'Donovan ban for 10 games stands after his appeal is rejected. Not a fan of his high boot action, but how the holy hell does he get 2 more weeks than Muscat for his assault in Zahra which cost him 12 months out of the game?

Confirmed: Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Season Draw

The Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Season draw was officially released on Thursday, with the season kicking off on Friday 19 October with Adelaide United hosting Sydney FC in the opening match at Coopers Stadium with the headline fixture in Round 1 being the Melbourne Derby at Marvel Stadium on Saturday 20 October.

The three remaining fixtures in the opening round will see Wellington Phoenix meeting the Newcastle Jets, Brisbane Roar FC facing the Central Coast Mariners and Perth Glory up against the Western Sydney Wanderers FC which will pitch coaches against their former clubs.

The Hyundai A-League 2019 Finals Series will begin on the weekend of 3-5 May 2019 with the Hyundai A-League 2019 Grand Final scheduled for the weekend of 18-19 May 2019.

FFA’s Head of Hyundai A-League & Westfield W-League, Greg O’Rourke, is excited to officially release the 14th edition of the Hyundai A-League Season draw.

“As we announced in April, the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Season will kick-off later than ever before allowing more overlap with the grassroots season and will break twice for FIFA international windows,” said O’Rourke.

“The Westfield W-League 2018/19 Season will also kick-off the following week which will provide additional marketing opportunities for both the Leagues and the Clubs.

“Although there will be no break during the AFC Asian Cup 2019, the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Season Draw has been constructed in such a way that will allow a natural flow from one competition to the other from a broadcast perspective to create a Summer Football schedule that will see 31 Hyundai A-League matches played in 27 days throughout.

“Once again we have incorporated a split round (round 21) to assist clubs who are competing in the AFC Champions League. There is also flexibility built into the draw once the AFC Champions League 2019 schedule is released should we require.

There are three (3) official themed rounds this season; Remembrance Round (4), rebel Female Football Round (5) and rebel Play Football Round (18).

“This edition of the Remembrance Round will be of special significance as it will coincide with the Centenary of the Armistice. Also for the first time the Hyundai A-League will hold an ANZAC day fixture between Brisbane Roar FC and Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium which will kick-off at 2pm.

“Following an off-season review, and with the success at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, we will continue with the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system however in a new centralised facility.

“I would like to thank FOX SPORTS, the Hyundai A-League Clubs, respective venues and all other stakeholders who have all worked collaboratively to produce this season’s draw.

“In 100 days from now the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Season will kick-off and I am sure all fans are looking forward to it,” concluded O’Rourke.

While Muscies was a dog act it wasn't necessarily aimed to wreck his career. Roy O'Donovan went for the flying kick into someone's face and he's lucky Thomas is a tough hombre. Imagine if he was seriously concussed and had facial fractures etc?

Roy wasn't going for the ball, he was about 2 feet away. He probably wasn't intending to kick him in the head. With the head being sacrosanct, he is lucky. For sure muscy knew what he was doing, I don't condone it. The injury was unfortunate, but an injury to the head can be much much worse in the future. That's the difference.

lol the ball was nowhere near! He deserves his 10 game wack and should consider himself lucky! he could have killed Thomas! That's the difference between the two incidence!
Definitely deserved it

I'm a rusted on fan but I don't know, I think this year will be my last as a member. Kind of feels like I'm in an abusive relationship here, giving everything whilst being taken advantage of. The atmosphere at the game is nowhere near what it was, the excitement is nowhere near what it was, the high profile players are leaving quicker than you can say Bobo and it feels like every player comes to your club from another A League club via a failed European stint.

Think I might be better off supporting my local NPL club next year.

imo its all the FFA's fault! you are not the only one and I don't blame you either, They have lead the league down this path of staleness with lack of change and risk and dropping the ball with the sporting environment we now live in compared to what it was like fifteen even five years ago!

I'm not gonna go in to details its all been said before in these threads, but the sooner they are thrown out and an independent body is running the league the better. Hopefully this meeting with FIFA on the 30th of July will go a long way in helping that course.

The season is now starting later? So crunch time of the season is disappearing further into AFL/NRL season. Plus it's nearly 2 months after the Euro leagues.

I think they've missed a chance to start even earlier and allow some breaks, or play ffa cup games during international weekends etc.

I would be start season on the bye weekend before the finals. Get 2 games in Melbourne to start the season on a weekend where nothing happens.

After week 1 of the Finals you can own Saturday afternoon and Sunday, as all the games are Friday/Saturday night. Once the finals wrap you then schedule a few big derbies and capitalise on the momentum.

Socceroos playing at home in early October maybe? They otherwise don't give a s**t about international breaks.

They announced towards the end of last season that they were going to start recognising and not playing on international dates.
