Rubbish game after the first two.

We continue to have such gutless refs in this league. Jamison should’ve had his 2nd yellow twice, and regardless of who you think was at fault with Toivenon and Delbridge at the end, 2 yellows and a drop ball is an objectively cowardly decision.

Yikes.. that’s horrible imagine how low once the Nix play every second week on the ABC
That has also got to be the Worst Melbourne Derby ratings wise too

I don’t think this is ever gonna be recoverable for the A-League in its current form, just got to accept it for what it is.

Unfortunately, The FFA dropped the ball in its latest expansion teams. Really they should have put in a 2nd Adelaide Team (South Australia is a proud football state in this country, crying out for a local Derby) and probably should have brought in Canberra Utd or a 2nd Queensland team (prefer another team based in Townsville tbh)

Don't think we needed another team from Melbourne or Sydney at all.

Lot of grassroots fans are now turning their backs on the A League and just sticking to watching their
local and or state league teams.

The NSL Bitters (like @SMFCMike on Twitter) were spot on about the FFA and how they have micro-managed the A League, and probably have been all along.

The NBL has finally gotten their s**t together after years of incompetence and bad management, no reason why the A League can't can't do the same, although the sooner an independent governing body that is run in conjunction with the HAL clubs runs the league instead of the Muppets at the FFA the better.

In some regards the FFA had their hands tied with the places they expanded to, with Foxtel placing some more money in the deal if the new teams were to be based in Melbourne or Sydney, with both markets (at least the new syd team) being based in an area that, imo, is in need of it and is far enough away from parra and Moore park to be a strong side.

In regards to your comment on the nbl, you must note that it was more of a basket case than what the HAL has ever been, with key markets absent, no tv deal (at all) and, in the wnbl case (which is still being managed by the federation) having a side which barley lasted one season. And also the fact that the nbl has been independent from the federation for at least 3 years (maybe more) and that the new management was able to organise the comp properly from year one. Yes the league is probably not what it’s means to be atm but from what ive seen of it this year and in the past it is a lot better, including the refs. I think the most important test will be the finals series, partially the w league, and the 20/21 season.

I don't oppose this, but have seen a lot of people saying it. Just curious about why people feel this way?

For a start, it makes zero sense for United to play round 1 away. Surely the obvious fixture is against Victory?

I actually think Western United v Melbourne City should have been the opening fixture, not sure if Kardinia Park would have been ready by then tbh.

Just a home game in general IMO. Was more wondering why people were directly opposed to derbies in Round 1 and the reasoning behind that.

Excitement (should) be up already, save the derbies for a little later.
