We got 80k to the LA Galaxy game, the following A-League game we got 12k. These games don’t do anything.
It’s this type of rubbish that makes us look 3rd rate.

Raising awareness and getting the league in the public conscious is, IMO, not a bad thing. That being said the Old Firm teams coming out theoretically should benefit more.

Agreed but those 80k must be some type of fan to attend in the first place. Have to try and convert them somehow

AUFC sold out adelaide oval for the GF then never once sold out Hindmarsh the next season. Fact is this country only takes a passing interest in soccer. How you change that, i dont know but it cant hurt having Barca come out. Bigger fool the casuals who pay $250 for a ticket to watch bench players jog around

Maybe if the A League forgoed the salary cap (of sorts) and let rich clubs buy international marquee players (well at least one) like they are allowed to do in the MLS, interest and crowds would grow.
Then all we would see is City win the championship every season which frankly would be quiet boring and it’s not what this league needs. Teams like CCM, Jets, Nix might as well just pack it in.

MLS also has a draft system which encourages local talent and the money to keep them in the system. They also draw great talent from Central America.

btw nothing is stopping clubs buying marquee players now but the money isn’t here anymore especially when we got to compete with China and the Middle East. All we got to offer is lifestyle.

Should be a pretty big carrot tbh

You can earn $1M+ here, live on the beach, train half as much as europe, play half as many games, great weather etc. Or you can go to China for slightly more. Should be a no brainer imo. Christ, id play here for 20% of the money they offered.

Fantastic news for Wellington and the Warriors.

Hopefully Yellow Fever pack out their first home game back on NZ soil, probably my favourite active supporters group in the Whole A League.

They've been working since December

Until the stands start all going up they can still change their minds
Let's stop complaining, they are building the stadium. It's taken ages to get started but in the long run it is going to be a good place, and the team is playing good football. From everything that has come out Western will be playing in Western Melbourne next year (probably Ballarat and Launceston as well) which they should have done since the beginning (let's blame fox and the FA for that).

Always said if they did build it and actually have a home I would shower them with praise.

It ain’t built yet.

Hmmm... either the Mayor is trying to drum up excitement or has dementia

Haven't seen these comments before, but I've always thought Aus has the lifestyle to attract players even if the league isn't in the best of shape, so interesting hearing Ninko saying that. Of course the league was in better shape back then but still to come to Aus over going to China is a big call to make.
