I've pondering of late about how we are going and things are starting to look in a positive light. Then I realized I think we may have forgotten something when we are building our team.

When you look at our list of players, is there any player that strikes out as intimidating? Jake King might fit the bill but he's quite short of stature. I also looked at previous premiership teams and there's always a handful of players that make you go "shit I don't wanna go near him" and that sort of thing. At the moment I don't really see anything that sticks out as making other teams being afraid of us. What's your opinions on this?

So a midfielder and a small forward? That's not /quite/ what I was getting at. I'm talking about a tall forward/defender type material with a lot of anger.
I like having people like those in a team.

I know what you mean... A Cam Mooney, Barry Hall, Glenn Archer, Byron Pickett, Campbell Brown type of player

I think Batch will turn into an intimidating player, as will Arnot if his football holds up. Morris is definitely aggressive, the key for me is that we don't recruit players who are intimidated.

Yeah, this more than anything. Look what acting tough has done for Jacko, we need our players on the field.

Exactly Greggy. The hallmark of those premiership sides was not necessarily unbridled aggression but strong bodies who were prepared to put their head over the ball. This is certainly an ingredient we've lacked for years but we have done a lot to address this in our recent recruiting.

Much to Dimma's credit.

Yeah agree that Batch could turn into that type of player. I'm hoping he can turn into a Beau Waters type player for us - tough, strong, left footer, fair... even a bit injury prone

Oh also Rance is a very brave defender - remember his head clash with Troy Selwood? Hasn't changed his game one iota since breaking his jaw

the can mooneys, festival halls etc yeah they were intimidating, purely because they lashed out and gained a reputation. The real intimidators are the Glen Archer, Steve Silvagni types who would run through a brick wall without any thoughts of self and who was in their way..When the time comes and these types of players go that extra step, i.e. GFs etc, then this is where they come to the fore and we have a dead set couple of commandos in that dept in Rance & Morris. Not suggesting others are not up to it, but these two have that, I will call it talent, that they dont fear being hurt or hurting, when its kill or be killed and get that ****ing pill.
