With regard to the continuous North v Essendon rivalry.
1. Bomber fans feel free to bag us, call us cheats whatever it is you feel you need to, but at the end of the day our club, through its zoning, could not seem to achieve the success it required over time.
The likes of Aylett etc changed that, and within the rules of the day.
As for whether Essendon cheated or not, well it is all academic as the history books show your side was the best both in 1993 and 2000.
But to say North didnt earn their flags in the 70's - wake up.
Prominent people, Aylett, Cheatley etc Mortgaged houses etc in a bid to bring North Melbourne its success ... gave their lives, risked their family's future, everything they had to see North succeed.
Since these wonderful people gave everything to our club, we have thrived, won four flags since 75, as many as you have I do believe.
We have been leaders in professionalism, brought the game into the 1980 - 90's and under Allan Aylett - the cheat as you would have us believe - the game has not been lost as it strives for National acceptance in the most competitive environment of all - the sporting market.
Just as you have set a benchmark with your performance this year, so to has North Melbourne with the many initiatives it instigated over the last 25 years with savvy administration and on field performance.
I am not challenging your club to match us in facilities or give us a level playing field, nor do many of us particularly want North Melbourne to be Essendon, but it seems you see us as a threat and hence are so quick to write us off and defend your turf.
But credit where credit is due.
North do struggle, but we certainly do not whinge about it.
There are issues we have been hard done by in eg merger etc, but the club continues to ook forward as do we as supporters, members and members of the coterie.
So before you make rash generalisations, give things a little thought.
You dont have to like us, nor do we have to like you, but a little research and knowledge probably wouldn't hurt.
By the way, North Melbourne, based on 98 attendances, would in fact have made more money, including AFL handouts, had they played those games from Sydney in Melbourne.
It was not a handout, it was a promotional grant and North players and administration created a presence in Sydney for that money.
Its apparrent lack of success is irrelevant, as it was not a grant or handout as you seem to believe.
Again, a little research would hold all of you Essendon fans in good stead.
I am quite comfortable with whom I support and have supported all my life.
I have no desire to be bigger, better or otherwise and as long as the team gets by and performs on the field I am comfortable.
If you happen to be the hunted, accept it with good grace for it would be a shithouse competition if you had no opponents.
