It seems as though our recruiting department has undergone a 'seachange' when it comes to picking players. After years of plucking players with significant TAC formbooks behind them this years crop comes it seems with risks involved. Anyone who saw Egan in the trial game at Vic park couldn't have been more impressed, during the championships he was invisible, maybe hampered by a groin strain, which is the real Chris Egan? Our next pick only played school football but is supposedly as amazing physical specimen. How do judge a guy playing in an inferior competition? Travis I'm not worried about, and 'Yakka' has been crueled by injuries for two years, before that he was a top midfield prospect. Lets hope a gets the body right and he could be a steal. Recruiting has never been an exact science so its hard to say how a kid will develop. My concern is theres no middle ground with Egan and Rusling, they could turn out to be busts, or they might turn into excellent league footballers, lets hope its the latter.

I'm happy that they've gone with blokes who don't appear to have major skill deficiencies, and are athletic at the same time. Thats got to be a good start.

At the end of the day, if one of them turns out to be the freak superstar we are hoping and the other bombs and becomes just a footballer, we have won. And even if both can manage games for us in the long term good luck to em.

if you read the comments of the recruiting dept. and Malthouse after the draft you will see that we were very specific in the players we selected.

rather than going for "best available" we went for "best suited" to rectify deficiencies in speed and skill.

once we get Caracella in PSD, l'll be rapt with the changes to the squad.
